[DRONES] - LAUNCH !!! - shortcut

+ shortcut key for "launching drones" - maybe best option to create it through right-click menu on drone group

I would ask for hotkeys to launch drone group 1 through whatever, as listed in order in the drone window.

If it had the functionality of recalling current drones in space and then launching the hotkeyed group, so that switching drones was just one press, that would be great.

Ideally you could drag drone groups into the module hotkeys and use a F-key to launch/recall them.

Dragging the drone group of choice into space to launch it is enough.

I would suggest this, for my contribution:

The primary drone ships have large drone bays, which are organized only superficially.

I would create a launch bay.
This would be represented by a number of buttons equal to the number of drones you can support active.
(Located above your high slots)

You may assign 5 drones to this bay, ANY 5 for which you have the bandwidth.
These 5 drones, like your turrets or launchers, CAN be grouped if they are identical.
(This would give you the option of using them under exclusive group commands)
Regardless of being launched, each drone has a health bar above the respective button, just like targeted ships used to, or the encircling version.
This let's you confirm you have pulled healthy drones from storage, as well as Identify damaged drones for repair opportunities.

Launching the drones would be the same as activating a turret, with red outline graphic cues showing activation.
When orbiting or idle, the button would have a green outline, showing it is ready and already in space.
(No outline when still in launch cradle)

Recalling drones would be done by one of two ways, either by clicking the button which recalls it to the cradle, or right clicking on the button, and selecting a replacement from your storage, just like you would change or reload ammunition.
Once a new drone is ordered into the cradle, it's previous occupant is switched to flashing mode the same as a turret reloading, while the drone in question returns and is scooped up into the storage bay.
The replacement drone can then be clicked, and launched by so doing.

I always liked the idea of using a modual and Fkey to control drones.. In addition you could use scripts to for additional options.. for example sentry drones might be able to be scripted to follow the ship that deployed them repair drones could be scripted to repair self, combat drones could be scripted to kamikaze into targets

I think this is a great idea! Unless you're in a ship that manages to use every last one for the fit modules.
