There's a major problem because CCP allows to convert money into ISK by PLEX or GTC. I don't think that an EULA of a gaming developer can defy general laws that someone's money can be taken by another one in a legit way.

Well its a good think that ISK isn't money then.

Finally it's ISK but it's a difference if the source was time for the gameplay or just money. You simply can't fly a 60 bil ship as a beginner if you have to make ISK ingame. You will learn EVE by the normal way with some hard lessons and that a 60 bil ship is totally senseless to fly for missions in hi-sec. At the end you might learn that joining a null-sec corp will open you some fast ways to make billions in a few days or weeks in a simple t2 fitted Ishtar. It doesn't matter here that it's insane to invest $2600 in a spaceship game. Fact is that CCP doesn't warn these people that they will risk their money doing it this way and inform them about the usual mechanics like getting ganked or scammed. I am pretty sure that this is an interesting case for a lawyer. Smile

A case against whom? CCP? The Gankers? The Scammers?

Ask yourself this:
Where did the ISK come from? A number of PLEX items. Does buying a PLEX give the buyer an x ammount of ISK? No. A PLEX gives the buyer the ability to transform it into a 30 day GTC, or sell it in the in game market for ISK. On either scenario, CCP complied with keeping the customer informed.

How does CCP not informing a player that Non-consensual PVP will happen grounds for someone filing a lawsuit because they just so happened to PLEX their way to purple gear?

And I won't even ask about The Gankers nor The Scammers, because it is well known that CCP endorses said behavior.

Also, did no one see his Exequror Navy Issue loss? Goddamn, I died.

You can now buy Fanfest Tickets for PLEX...

So the more ISK you can loot, the more ISK you can buy PLEX with (to party).

This individual does not care for EVE Online as an environment and the people who populate it.

Because he does not care about EVE he makes one horrendous mistake after another. In fact, him not being interested in EVE is a guarantee that this kind of thing will happen to him. This guy is the equivalent of someone buying a judo kimono and a black belt, without having spent a day actually training for judo and then going out to challenge a SEAL team operator. He's going to win because he's got all the proper gear and the right colour belt so he must be good, right?

What I see is someone who came in unprepared and uninterested, and everything an experienced hand would expect to happen happened.

Should CCP tell new players that what they're doing in there has consequences and that losses are permanent? Yes they should and, they do. If you go through the tutorials, one of the missions is intended to sink in the idea that a loss is permanent.

This person did not have to do that. This person bought his way straight to... I don't know what he thought he was buying, to be honest. It is not a ticket to the end game. He does not understand what he's doing. He does not care about why you do what you do in there and what the consequence is. The famous cartoon and its significance is wholly lost on him.

Do we, as a community of pilots, have to serve this kind of player? I don't believe we do. His next question is to buy a super capital class or even a titan class ship, because those are supposed to be the best ones, right? He does not care for what it means to even get one of those ships and the serious effort required to obtain them. Or that you cannot possibly do this on your own. He is everything EVE Online does not need.

Of all the brutal and harsh lessons EVE metes out, this one by far is the most unforgiving one. And it was applied to precisely the right person. I do not wish to share the same space as someone who is going to threaten someone physically after losing a ship because he does not care enough about the environment to actually learn how it works.

I have to say though, after having lost one such ship, giving away an exact copy, with PLEX in the hold, was stupendous to read. But the 500 million ISK for fuel costs on top of all that... I humbly bow my head in awe and respect for the aching beauty with which this scam was executed. This is a new standard for scamming. It's going to be hard to do better than that.

I predict the record will be shattered when Jim comes back, perhaps with a new character. He'll read about multiboxing and decide that if he had 2 ships just like what he lost, he will be unstoppable.

See Bio for isk doubling rules. If you didn't read bio, chances are you funded those who did.

No. He will multibox titans and try jumping into Dodixie to exact revenge on his gankers. Of course he'll make an armor tanked leviathan with 3 1600mm plates and 4 shield boosters so he won't get ganked and the biggest baddest citadel torps he can fit.

I think he's stubborn enough to do it. He's going to have to chew on losing a fair bit of cash for a while. After he's nursed his wounded ego long enough he might be inspired to come back and 'show us'.

What he is not going to do is be humble before the learning curve and find out where he made his mistakes and learn from them. That's EVE for you: a near-endless way to teach you the hard lessons.

-If- he should do it, he's going to compound his mistakes. Not by giving someone his ship though. I need to have that much faith in the common sense of humanity that he's not going to do that particular one twice.

This time he'll conclude he wasn't flying big enough ships, that was the whole mistake in the first place. So he'll install two clients, or find some other kind of multi-box setup. Then he's going to buy all shiny and new uber gear and bling his boat out like a pimp on Miami Beach.

The part of my personality I don't like to talk about wants him to build his new invincible super fleet and then show up in a system he's heard about. 6VDT-H, was it? The perfect place to go ratting.

It's not going to be for a while though. He got kicked in the teeth rather hard. The speed and the size of his disaster is just scary. This is the kind of personality that uses his wallet to get into the champagne room and then forgets that he's still not calling the shots.

CCP should give a prize for such a beautiful scam. It's more than deserved.

The scammer should be given a special medal for the occasion and it should become the Medal of Honor of New Eden for the sheer size and quality of the scam perpetrated. It should be annotated, so that people know what it was awarded for. I'll pay the 5 million required to make the thing if that's what it takes.

The failing here isn't just Raven-WoW-reject's alone....its a tutorial or new user intro that doesn't clearly demonstrate to every new EvE player that they can (and will)...

be ganked
be pirate-blapped when stepping into losec
be trade scammed
be tricked into entering a limited engagement with a pwnboat
be awoxed
be recruitment scammed
etc...

All of which can happen non-consensually, if they dont learn to protect themselves

They should be told this up front, in clear terms.

Hmm...blog post in there somewhere....

Because there isn't a big box that pops up when you first try and enter a low sec system warning you that your safety can't be guaranteed, or the in game tutorial doesn't tell you multiple times to fly what you can afford to lose, because you will lose ships. There also isn't recruitment scam warnings all over the MotD of the recruitment channel. AmIrite?

The game clearly warns you of danger when you first start out. What you choose to do with those warnings are entirely up to you...

T2s are better than purple for that reason.

I don't use T2 for that same reason.

(Except when the cost efficiency is better than the loot /enemy value ratio, which is most of the time.
T2s are mostly more expensive anyways, and will not provide a way to destroy the enemy before being ganked.

They can be good versus NPC if there is enough security from groups, which I don't get.)

Most of the time while grouping, I get backstabbed (which means treason), or left for enemies to get killmail.
It seems more organized to get me killed than other.

So, T2 are pretty useless to me unless I want to further fill pirates pocket without benefit.

(Most fleetmates are more friendly towards the enemy or pirates than towards me.)

On a regular account (+/- $1,300 x2) + a 24 hour Biomass schedule (+/- time)

that is equal to 2 other potential pod pilot character.
That is also equal to a 3rd new pod pilot character for a new total of 4 (minus the first biomass).

Btw, an Attack Battleship had to come from the Character Bazaar unless .?.

I don't think he trained it, although it'd take less than 1 month to do that.

He most likely trained to BS and trying to test Dreads Titan super caps.

Here on EVE Gate, go to Profile tab.

Search 'Jimblidge'.

No search results? --> biomassed

The best part of that article is when the dude says he is a 40 year-old lawyer and swears to go after his killers in real life.

No mixed feelings to be honest. An ignorant who is stupid enough to play this game without doing any research and then buying a 1300$ ship with an excuse of not having so much time to play the game to cover up his lazy ass attitude deserves to be killed, scammed and sent back to WOW asap.
