I had a hard time getting over the character animation and the way clothing wears on the character. I had just come from playing Rift which had awesome character animation and the clothing loked like clothing, not spandex metal plate.

Looks like they didnt even bother with motion capture for the character animations.

Another thing..you cant swim underwater.

So overall "meh."

I also played Rift which was a fantastic game until it went F2P. And it is the most poignant example of how F2P can destroy a game. The game has had one expansion. One. The only content being added is to the shop. Why? Because F2P is not sustainable in the long term. It's hard to plan any long term development plans when you have no idea what kind of budget you're going to have one month to the next.

WoW - sub fee and wildly successful.
Eve - sub fee and mildly successful and growing.

I personally do not want a cash shop. I do not want micro-transactions. I really have to hand it to CCP. The PLEX idea was a stroke of pure genius to generate revenue.

Let's also consider a moment the timing of the comments made in this thread. Reviews based on a beta... The game has not even released yet and people are calling it a flop. Gamers are literally the worst people in the history of humanity I swear.

ESO release date is less than a month away (April 4th.) There's not a lot that can be changed before release.

Pon Farr Memorial: once every 7 years, all the carebears in high-sec must PvP or they will be temp-banned.

From what I saw and played during the beta, one month isn't enough time. They'd need a year to revamp the hideous combat system, the clunky, awkward animations, and the sad excuse for a "dynamic" quest system they've got in place.

Oh, and no PvP except in one place. Because "world PvP" worked so well for Guild Wars 2.

One of ours, ten of theirs.

Best Meltdown Ever.

While WoW is still going strong, it is in decline. Subscription MMOs in general are in decline and Eve might be the only exception.

It's a subscription MMO in the age of F2P. What does ESO offer over F2P games to justify the subscription fee ?
The F2P games have had years of polish.

How many times have you seen an MMO heavily hyped before release, only to see it flop after release ?

Too many of those and people will see the pattern. The cynics were right about the previous games, why will ESO be any different ?
