Procurers deal with the ganking problem, with minimal impact on yield.

(I agree there need to be changes to mining. But not for the same reasons)

No impact at all versus a retriever if you are dropping directly into an orca or jet canning and MTU-ing and teh ship is way cheaper to buy and fit plus has more tank.

Basically Procurer/Retriever are the same ore per minute and only the Covetor gives higher yield.

How to fix mining:

Give it a minigame everytime the miner cycles akin to exploration. The asteroid now spews "ores" for you to click in space to pick up. It's a fool proof plan that worked with exploration! Roll

Hey the OP complained about mining being boring so let's make it interactive.

so basically turn EVE into star wars galaxies. After all that was generally how mining worked in that game.

Or we could just hide mines in asteroid fields for the unexpected BOOM!! every now and then.

Did I mention the mines can damage your ship?Twisted

I played Freelancer so I know about mines.

Mini-game...a freakin mini game???

I quit exploration cause of that lame mini-game...3 frineds of mine totalling almost 10 accounts haven't been seen since ingame because of it....and the fact that months of training became almost meaningless.

Yeah, mining needs help, but not some smart phone mini game Roll

How about progressive Rats....you sit in one place too long and the Rat's escalate to larger better equipped rats.

I simply don't understand

Mining is an excellent pastime for those of us who find the rest of EvE to be over stimulating.

Ice mining used to be that outlet...spending countless hours watching ice blocks go from 10,000 units to 9,999....9,998 ohhh the joy :)

Recent changes have made ice mining far too intense for those with weak hearts.....so regular mining of the Giant Spod™ is now recommended.

Please ensure your barges are not aligned to anything....try and stay at the warp in point as well....and as always safety in numbers....pack barges side by side. Also it is recommended that you ensure you fit for maximum yield....you don't want to lose out on any isk making opportunities.

+1 for tougher rats...make .5 systems dangerous.
Random respawns for ice and ore...in different systems and in different locations in the systems they do spawn in...force miners to seek out and scan down the ore they mine. More different kinds of ore.

You know, there are other things you can do in Eve besides mining. Maybe it wouldn't be so bad if you weren't trying to micromanage a hulk mining fleet.

I think mining is something you do when you are new -- or when you are at your computer reading about Eve, watching netflix, or even doing real computer work.

The last thing CCP should do is "force" mining to be more interactive.

I think most anti-mining people are aware that the AFK miners who have kids/demanding work/etc would just quit the game if mining got interactive and they had to pay 100% attention. Thing is the anti-mining types see that as a good thing.

Mining isn't so bad in the right environment. Personally, I sit on my deck with a cigar and my laptop and grind rocks until a neut or red comes in....then it's a nice pew pew break.

I luv mining the way it is, I can read a book while Im mining, or do other things in my life, as well as play;

I don't want to waste my life in front of a monitor playing video games for endless hours on end.... part time playing lets

you spend time with family and friends and not be a blood-shot-eyed loser with no life and no friends ....

Agreed

CODE is just a bunch of pirates; smart, organized pirates. It doesn't help to rage at them because that is exactly what they want. Dust yourself off and get back on your feet, you don't even have to talk to them.

Don't worry, we're on it.

Highsec is owned by players now. Systems 0.5-1.0 are New Order Territory. All miners and other residents of Highsec must obey The Code. Mining without a permit is dangerous and harmful to the EVE community. See www.MinerBumping.com

CCP couldn't care less for mining. If less players mine, the ore price goes up and some new players will get into minig again for ISK.

Also they made some of the mining barges specially for been ganked by low cost frigates. It's content for this high-sec gankers. If you look at the kills of such a ganker you see they went to low sec, got killed a few times there and they got back in high-sec where they feel safe and CCP provided some targets for them.

What would you change to make the process of mining interesting?

It doesn't need to be fun. Guess that would be close to impossible.

It needs to be meditative. Today it's... well, only bearable if afk. Some interaction would be needed. Doesn't need to be a fun interaction, but one where you can lose yourself in.

A change in a direction where you partly guide the laser manually might be an idea. Do that well and you might get double the output you have while doing nothing. Balancing required of course.
