So over in general we were talking about appeal to new players and it occurred to that a system that would encourage fast, balanced, pvp would help the game immensely. at first i had no idea what we could do. then it hit me.

"Control Points". Each control point is initially only visible on dscan/probe (like a sanctum). Different ones will only let different ships/fleets in. for example you have 1v1 frig, cruiser, etc. some allow tech 2, some do not. you also have small fleet vs small fleet ones and they'll only allow small fleets in.

once someone scans one down and they/their fleet enter it two things happen

1) they start periodically receiving ISK (up to a cap)
2) the entry gate becomes a celestial beacon
3) they all become free-fire targets (no sec status hit for aggressing them)

if another person/fleet comes in and fights the winning fleet gets a certain amount of isk + the remaining funds from the periodic pool (so the faster you attack the more money you stand to win)

what do you think? suggestions? tweaks?

Tedium and difficulty are not the same thing, if you don't realize this then STFU about game design.

just trying to come up with a way to prevent blobbing and encourage pvp. it's not like pvp wouldn't happen elsewhere.

do you have a better idea?

I tried to champion what I believe is a pretty good alternative to how lowsec works created by the distinguished Hratli M. Smirks (details here: Hratli's guide to fixing lowsec

But it just never got any traction.

i do not think any kind of alliance control warfare really does any good to lo sec

i like it how it is except common problem with farms and fields aka structures but its not only lo sec

theres couple things which make lo sec pretty lame like:
-instant cyno = supercaps and titan bridges oh lol poor newbie pirates in slow ships
-gate guns
-fact that profits compared to hi sec are not lucrative enough good new example incursions

even then i rather "pirate" in 0.0 because i can actually catch all those lame cloakers and jump freighters and logoffski freighters better there hint maybe fix lame hauling (tm). plus theres no sec loss.

That's beautiful, if you weren't a goon I'd kiss you. Please use your nonexistent CSM powers to make it happen

Hmmmm ... I think I like Banjo's alternative better (Losec Bunkers/Control Points that let pilots see GCC events and act as "Concord Deputies" https://forums.eveonline.com/default.aspx?g=posts&t=6799&find=unread

... but this suggestion is in the same vein and therefore I would support further research and tweaking of both ideas ...

everyone can be concord deputy and shoot people with gcc or people under -5.0 sec status. most of people are just too scared to even try. basically this playing a good guy thinking is pretty similar to playing a paladin thinking: you need to be completely ridiculously overpowered with irrelevant downsides to not feel like pussy and actually go pvp.

control bunker system is horrible even in faction warfare
