Hi all,

I was just wondering how you guys enter an engagement (Lvl 1 missions)

I normally try to flank an pick out the ships that are the furtherst out and then put on AB and charge into AC range (approx 2200m)

This thing is, there will come a point when i will be frantically locking on to targets, hitting the orbit button and then looking for the one that is best in range.

All the while hitting F1 or F2 to fire off AC or rockets but needing to keep track of where they are on the cycle.

*pant*

Is there an easier way to do this or should i just get used to doing this the best i can?

thanks in advance.

Longer range weapons involve less effort for getting in range and can kill things before they start to orbit so there are no tracking issues.

They do less dps though.

Guessing this is a troll though since you are talking about level 1 missions.

You will have to get used to that sort of thing for pvp eventually.

But for missions I normally fit long range guns, sit, and shoot from range and use drones. If you are in a frigate, charging in us probably your best bet. Cruisers and up though I normally just sit. Minimum drone skills are useful for all races for missions.

No no, not a troll.

I'm really figuring out (trying to) the best way to do stuff.

@Emily: I've tried rail guns before but yeah, things don't seem to die as quick.

The long range + drones is definitely something i'll be trying to do when i finally get my cruiser.

thanks for the reply

I thought you flew Minmatar and would use Arty? Sorry, I was confused. If you are Gallente, a Tristan with its one drone does well in level ones. And yeah, just charge in for level 1 missions. Use Vexor for level 2s. Myrm for level 3s, Dominix for level 4s. You can use the gunboat route (Thorax, Brutix, Megathron) but they dont run missions as fast as the drone boats. Some people prefer them though.

Also, training your social and/or connections skill to level 3 or more so will make it so you can run level 2 missions and up quicker, if you are into that sort of thing.

Oh, sorry about that. I'm actually Amarr. Thing is though i like railguns and i love the rifter.

Ended up training for all the races frigates i think (just checked, ive done all except gallente).

I like the rifter so ended up training projectile weapons.

If you like Min stuff, then you should grab a Thrasher. Fit it with either ACs or Artys, an AB, MSE, second MSE/shield hardener, Gyro, and a MAPC (I think that leaves you short on grid). That will tear through lvl 1 missions like nobody's business.
