I just now read the devblog regarding these new paint skins.


  • Ship + BPC = Painted Ship

  • The BPC costs aurum, which can be bought via ISK -> PLEX -> AUR

  • The ship's stats don't change.



This rocks, I would love to recolor my marauders! =)

Meh... The only ship I'd buy would be a Khanid skinned battleship, and even then it still wouldn't have the launchers... Please, CCP... GIve me a Khanid Battleship.

I feel a little vexed about all of this.

Aurum awfulness aside, I feel that re-skinning iconic ships is pretty sad. People (rightly) mock Gallente camo-in-space, but now we're being encouraged to pay for it.

The ships in Eve are iconic and I can't help but feel that the majesty of a Titan might be somewhat undermined should it cyno into a battlefield sporting a pink basecoat.

I can't help but feel apprehensive about it. Re-modelling ships like the Tristan is something to be commended and I hope to see every ship get a facelift in due course. But I have no interest in custom paintjobs; it's an unnecessary and juvenile direction for the game to take.

Only one ship involved is camo, not that there is any issue with space camo since it's intended function isn't making the ship less visible, but factionally recognizable.

My only issue is that it sounds like this will mean wasting rigs to repackage the ship so you can "manufacture" the reskinned ship.

No offense, but being this concerned about the "direction the game is taking" when this is only about cosmetic paintjobs, could reasonably in and of itself be considered rather juvenile and unnecessary.

Well it's cool You touch this topic but i think in the end ship skins should be something different.

One type when You can obtain manufacturers skins from LP stores (like those kador etc)

Second when player can customize ship as he want with a lot of colors, patterns etc. with ISK payment at the end with confirming changes. <<<< this is the system all are w8ing for.

Unnecessary and juvenile? tell that to our Grandfathers, who slapped a unfathomable assortment of decals and paint-jobs on Aircraft and Vehicles during WW2.....

this built teamwork within the squadrons, being unique, express yourself while in battle.... some are rather crazy, like the pink base coat you speak off, some bawdy or sexual, some rather mild and tame but that is the users choice.

I cant wait for the legacy code to get a slight face lift so we have more options with paintjobs and custom work, like decals, will be really exciting
