Hello,

I got a question to ask and I am hoping if someone can help me with this.
I want to know how to set up the overview or mouseover labels so that there is a background around name/ship/ship name/distance when its shown. I think I saw that you can edit overview file so that these names are written in several lines rather than one, but I haven't found anything regarding background editing.
What I want is background around labels like this, seen during alliance tournament (http://youtu.be/oSEbDHeB6zE?t=3m56s).

Maybe there is an in-game option for that, but I can't find it... sorry for that...

Anyway, if someone knows how to set that thing up, please give me the instructions how to do it.

Oh thanks for your help... but I asked about background coloring behind those labels... please, next time be ARSED, read entire text and use more brainpower how to help others rather than acting like a jerk...

If only the Overview Settings had a "background" tab.... that would make this whole thing a whole lot easier.

I hope they implement this some day.

Since the cessation of their usefulness is imminent, may I appropriate your belongings?

I wasn't being a jerk, I did read the entire OP, got curious myself and found (part of) the answer within 5 minutes on google. You were clear on the background bit indeed, but sort of vague in saying:

so I interpreted that as you not knowing how to edit the labels whatsoever and thought i'd help ya out with solving at least one thing...

Rather funny how I came to this post.. By using google Lol To make it slightly funnier: I'm doing some desk-research for Demethrius Petronius to see if this is possible... I'm afraid I will have to disappoint you though, Demethrius, but I have -not- given up just yet!

Not to go off topic, but i gave your app a shot and I love it! Big smile
You'd think the background thing would be easy to implement with a single line of code , but CCP is using their own special HUD during tournaments, and it's different from the standard XML files we use.
Perhaps it's even a design issue. I mean, Imagine Jita 4-4 undock with backgrounds enabled. It would be one big clusterfuck.

Yeah that's what I figured. It might mean that there's hope for the future though =) Since I think it's a rather cool and useful extra, especially in terms of multi-line shiplabels.

About the design issue, I'd have to disagree with that. It would also be one big clusterfuck if all shiplabels are shown without that background, but the solution for that is already here. Namely that only shiplabels of ships you have either selected or ships you're hovering over with your mouse have their shiplabel visible. It would be quite simple to use the background only for ships of which the labels are shown.
