Out of Pod Experience

I go to this building in the middle of an orchard, several miles outside of town.

There are these big round dish looking thingys there. People tell me they're antennas.

I do stuff there.

They pay me with money.

not really, seems everyone is well educated and comes from typical loving family who doesnt clobber you with a wooden push broom on the left orbital because you came home late one night

I am a fitness professional that works one on one with the severely handicapped. Stroke, cancer and numerous other forms of traumatic brain injuries, genetic disorders....the list goes on.



You 4 could open me up and excise another foot and a half of my gut any time that being said I just had an MRI yesterday to see if I have another abscess forming

I'm an engineer on a ferry.

well, my employment contract says 'office admin' or something.

in reality i'm also the IT manager/tech support department for the company, and a counterbalance forklift driver when needed.

i'm also sort of a supervisor....

Oh, and NO, I'm not white collar.

I am a Elementary School Custodial Engineer!! (glorified janitor with a boilers license)

Used to be a Harley-Davidson technician though.....

I was just down at the Mayo Clinic and my Crohn's is doing ok. My sympathies if you have to go back "under the knife".

"Custodial Engineer" is definately a phrase designed to make us feel better about the job we have. It's no different that "Sanitation Engineer" is to garbage man. vOv

However, when I was still wrenching, I preferred "Grease Monkey" to technician.

I was once offered a job as a guide/Japanese interpreter/deck hand on my friend's sport fishing boat in Guam. Here's the lifestyle: During the day you take Japanese tourists out saltwater trolling and/or dolphin sighting. Make sashimi for everybody out of one of the small tuna you catch. Sell the rest of the fish at the wholesale market, except one. That one you take to the beach bar. Put it on the grill outside, sit inside in the air conditioning, drink cold ones, b.s. with the regulars until your huge, fresh fish is nicely cooked.

If you're a rogue type, then you go to the disco or the tourist area and pick up hot Japanese tourist girls (not very hard to do at all). On full moon nights when the fish are active, go out to the deep water, bottom fish, look at the stars and think deep thoughts, sleep on the boat. Sell your catch for good dollars.

But I made one of those stupid decisions that change your life forever. Turned that job down and ended up as an immigration attorney in New York City instead.

My job, or at least what it consists of, is listening to people ***** and moan all day and tell me how Obama (Or Bush) ****** up the country sooooooo bad.


Technically, I am retired law enforcement with a degree in computer science working as a security guard at a government building dealing mainly with people who do not have jobs, and probably WOULD have jobs if they weren't so damned stupid.
