After Rubicon and as part of a larger alliance, we see 15-20 people every night get socket close problems, people who never had this issue before.

Those who have made a support ticket all get the same answer..

It has to be your network, nothing to see in the log files.

Lets just say 15 people out of 725 people and mabe out of 250 active a day thats still 6% which in my line of work is ALOT with the same issue and all after Rubicon.

I have people in my own corporaton who have given up playing after rubicon, people who have been playing the past 3-5 years. And its not because they dont want to, but they are having issues every night.

Been having the same issues. This is what I've found so far:

Socket close happens for me at about 80 seconds after character select.
Using CCP's OWN Log Server, I get the following:

42059 2014.03.05 20:47:14:356 I haven't got a clue where ship should run, although I could guess any of these: ['LSC', 'tutorialSvc', 'bookmark', 'bulkMgr', 'sovMgr', 'corpBookmarkMgr', 'charUnboundMgr', 'voiceMgr', 'clientStatsMgr', 'charMgr', 'config']
42060 2014.03.05 20:47:14:357 Write: Packet::CallReq (Address::Client(clientID="0",callID="117",service="None"),Address::Any(service="ship",callID="None"),248 bytes,(1, 'MachoResolveObject', ((60004093, 15), 0), {'machoVersion': 1}),{}, None)
42061 2014.03.05 20:47:33:321 Closing connection to 87.237.38.200:26000: {'reasonCode': None, 'reason': u'The socket was closed', 'exception': error(10054, 'An existing connection was forcibly closed by the remote host'), 'reasonArgs': {}}

And couple that with Wireshark's output: http://i61.tinypic.com/91hvzn.png, it would appear to show that the connection is closed from CCP's end. For whatever reason.

I must admit, it's getting somewhat annoying, being disconnected at random in space. Hopefully they'll actually make a fix that works this time...

I'm new to the game, and have never once been able to log-in normally because of this issue.

In my case, I can say that it is to some extent my ISP, as when I trace the route to Eve's IP it runs through a particular ISP hub in Atlanta at which there is a fair amount of packet loss. After that, it reroutes to a different path and everything is fine.

I can also say that it is to some extent CCP's fault, in my opinion, since literally any other game on the planet will let me stay connected long enough for that re-route to happen and then all runs fine. Only this one has such strict packet loss rules in place that connecting is completely impossible.

I've gotten around it by using a VPN to connect (a solution I found searching these forums {fora?}). That ignores my ISP's pathing altogether and allows me to play. And I've really enjoyed the game thus far. But it leads to a whole new prob: Corps see you using a VPN, assume you are a spy, and refuse you. I don't know how long said enjoyment will last stuck as a solo player, but it seems reasonable to assume it will be shorter than it would have been otherwise.

Hey guys, just a quick bit if Info that might explain the connection issues for some people...

I have discovered there is Planned Maintenance being performed on an international Fibre link between London and San Jose which should be completed on the 10th of March. This may affect any users connecting to London via that route.

Last couple of days when everyone had this issue I was spared. Since Yesterday I got socket closed issues, since today I cant even log in anymore. Right when I choose my character, game kicks me and says socket closed.
Its not my Internet connection, since this happened to me in 3 different locations / networks.

There are talks of DDoS attacks https://twitter.com/EVE_status though I actually would like to see hat confirmed in the OFFICIAL FORUMS.

well, had this problem all last weekend and couldn't play at all.

Monday('s patch) - Wednesday it seemed to be fixed, until i logged in this morning and I'm having the SAME EXACT PROBLEM (again).

And with the weekend almost here, is it going to stay broken until next Monday again?

Already lost 3 days of PAID game time this month..

Cheers,

Still having connection issues logging in with the Socket Closed message. This is the only game and online service I have problems accessing. This has been going on for multiple days. There does not appear to be any specific time during the day when it works or does not work, leaving it as completely random if I can access the game or not.

+1 on the Socket Closed messages.

Updated client this morning, and this is the first I've run into it as a blocker. I make it past character selection, the sidebar loads (along with the New Mail notification), but that's it before the double popup of "Connection Lost, The socket was closed" messages.

Interesting things to note:

Before attempting a client repair, I wasn't getting the sidebar, just the double popup.
The "Connection Lost" popups go on top of each other (mostly). The one on top has options "Restart/Quit". The one hidden has option "OK" only.

Hope this helps, and gets resolved.

This occurred all last weekend for me as wel was fixed monday now down again. What the hell ccp. Already cost me 24 hours of game time this month. All other mmos work completely fine.

I get to character selection screen fine. When it starts to load station environment I get socket closed message twice. I can't even log into the website so I have to do this via my phone. A traceroute on my mac times out when it gets near your servers.

Also launcher gives error 101. Not sure what means but fix your ****. I don't care if you have to take the servers down mid day. The community I help run couldn't run incursions all day due to lag and constant dcs yesterday.

So, this problem has happened to me before. Some GM gave a rubbish answer that its not them.

So again the problem arises and loads more ppl are affected, across the Globe with different ISPs and a GM has the nerve to say its our ISPs and not them.

Having problems staying connected and connecting in the first place.

Can have we have a Dev who is actually paid and knows what he/she is talkin bout come back to us please? (with something other than the usual rubbish 'its not us')

Well, it resolved for me with no action taken. Didn't do network inspection, like some other posters, and it was only affecting me right after log-in. Otherwise solid.
