Seems hitting "open can/wreck" inherently makes you "approach" the object in question too, no matter the distance from it.

Is there any way to uncouple the order "open" from "approach"?

If you're wondering, I returned after over 2 years, ran a couple missions, saw a highsec incursion, thought I'd check it out, used to be easy. *blam* "Oh well, guess not anymore. Ah, let's get my covops!" I align to a gate that gets me past my wreck in interaction range, set my AP to the system behind the gate. I get within interaction range, get uncloaked, I want to scoop my stuff and warp hitting the AP, notice my ship turned towards the wreck even though I was within range, and... *blam* Minus two ships and all the mods on them.

I really wonder who got the brilliant idea to couple those two actions into a single button. I learned, but... was scooting and scooping things this way so broken or getting into interaction range before hitting open so difficult that it needed to be fixed?

At least I got to feel like an utter noob again Lol

If I'm less than 2500m from the wreck, my ship stands still when I open the can.

A while ago, CCP combined some commands together so that they would be more user-friendly. Clicking on open container/wreck will command your ship to approach if you are to far away to access it. Clicking on dock/jump, if far enough to warp to, will command your ship to warp or command approach if too close from warp but too far to dock/jump through. You'll get use to it.

"Tomahawks?"

"----in' A, right?"

"Trouble is, those things cost like a million and a half each."

"----, you pay me half that and I'll hump in some c4 and blow the ---- out of it my own damn self."
