Local chat : add an option to sort the Pilot list by standing

The purpose:
To have an effective tool that allows you to see rapidly incoming enemies into the system.

Why ? (example : Mining session)
- When you work with the "Local chat" often you need to use the scrollbar because you can't display on your screen, the entire list of pilot in the system and you can lost your ship if you mist to use the scrollbar to see the enemies (I lost a ship that way). In addition, frequently use a scroll bar to see if an enemy is in the system is quite boring (Scrollbar is not an elegant solution).

How ?
- For the right column (list of pilot in the system) add an option in "Member list setting" menu, to rank pilots based on their standing.
- Obviously, this option will also use the standings that a player can have manually given to another player, corporation or alliance.
- This option will rank the pilots with the worst standing in top of the list Big smile
- The default value for this option is Off (uncheck)

In conclusion :

As you know, this improvement in the local chat window will shows the names of the pilots with bad standing in top of the list. One of the big advantage of this improvement will be will not be forced to go out and stretch the window of Local Chat to try to see pilots with bad standing.

On the screen, the playing surface will be bigger because the Local chat window may remain in place with the other windows chat.
On my screen 23 ", this improvement will allow me to retrieve a playing surface of 2.5" X 8.5 "(65x210mm approx.) Big smile

Peace and fly safe !

Isn't there a warning already when a low security status capsuleer enters the system ?

Instead of adding even more intelligence methods to local chat, I'd rather see a whole bunch of features that can replace these methods and allow a complete nerf of local as intelligence tool.

considering that local chat is a foundational tool to doing basically anything outside of hisec and w-space, this would be a really useful feature.

CCP has said they don't want local to be a tool, so they will take no steps to improve it.

But then they leave it as the best tool around for years, so its both super-powerful and lacking in basic functionality.

Local is powerful enough, without adding yet more intel power on top.

So it's going to be a no thanks from me.

By your logic picking a name that starts with Z makes you more powerful because local is already sorted in some way.

This would make it no more powerful than it already is.

No. But thanks for the input, it was most enlightening.

then have it scrolled to the bottom before jumping into system. it does not reset at the top after a system jump.

Which is, as has been said repeatedly, a huge buff to local. Why does 100% free intel need to be even better?

Because this improvement will save ships and will expand the playing surface which is enough clutter.

But for those who like to destroy mining barges, I admit that it will be a bit more boring!

Remove all Tags and build a Serverwide Database that is player driven, that would be broken but atleast a Sandbox. lol

Hello,

I do not think we have to discuss the IT solution. It is rather CCP arrived with a solution.

On my screen 23 ", this improvement will allow me to retrieve a playing surface of 2.5" X 8.5 "(65x210mm approx.).

Bah! It is true that my 19-inch screen is pretty crowded and a little more space would be good

im a miner, and i do all the things u do, watch local and more just fine.

the fact that u get ganked for not paying attention, means i make more money. and seeing as im clearly working harder than u, this is balanced.

Because if we're going to have a vital intel tool and interface with it every goddamn hour and day we're logged on, then it may as well be usable and have basic functionality like this.

The fact that local is intrinsically "bad" and we'd like it to be removed/replaced is completely irrelevant.

I like how the current system means that the pro-active and vigilant keep their ships. Whilst the lazy ppl die in a fire.

Its already usable, flawless, instant and free. provided u are going to interface with it every goddamn hour like u suggest, then u get all the benefits of this function already. Or if u dnt use local as such u dont. Idea already implemented.
