Power of Two – What to do with the New Character Slots?

I picked up the Power of Two offer with 3 PLEX bought with isk that my station trader has amassed over the past few months (I’m new at this, but doing well with my station trader in Jita). Now I have two accounts and can have my pirate and my mission runner/explorer both training simultaneously to be better at their crafts.

But I now have 3 empty character slots to fill. My original plan was to add three more station traders and put them in Rens, Amarr, and Dodixie. I can quickly train them to level 3 in Broker Relations, Retail, and Trade (like my trader in Jita) and they’ll each have about 40 trade orders available. It seems like a reasonable plan with the slight downside that it takes me 20 minutes in the morning and 20 minutes in the evening to update my current Jita trades – adding 3 more of these 20 minute sessions twice a day might be a bit much. But I’m willing to give it a try.

I have a couple questions…

Would it be more profitable to have all 4 of these traders at Jita instead of spread around the other hubs? I could have each of them specialize in a different type of goods (weapons, rigs, implants, armor/shields, meta items, ships, etc.). Would this be more profitable since Jita is such a big market? Remember they’ll each have only 40 slots for trade – so it would be like one trader with 160 slots.

Are there other ideas for using these guys? Most of my play time is spent with the other two characters – so I’m looking for some sort of relatively passive activity. Regional trading? Speculation? Combine my explorer’s probing skills with a couple days worth of ninja salvager training for one of these “traders” to search out mission runner sites? Something else?

Any ideas would be most appreciated.

advTHANKSance!

It may not float your boat, but one can never have enough manufacturing slots.

Some options:
1. Do what you suggest- and burn out in a few weeks :)
2. Train them for trade but use a different trade strategy where frequent updating of orders is not required (good option).
3. Train them for other specialized stuff, and sell them, or use them if you find it fun.
4. Get their standings up and use for datacore research.
5. Keep generating avatars till you get a real good looking one, and use as an escort (could not think of a good 5th option).
6. Make them into forum alts/trolls. Recycle when banned.
7. Do not train them- but apply to different corps and do espionage.
8. Get one trained for incursions and rake in the easy money (if forums are to be believed)
9. Consider training one character for more than 40 orders (Wholesale/Tycoon)- and train broker relations and accounting to V on this one character, instead of training these skills to III on 3 characters.

Any colour you like.

HA! Thanks for the manufacturing idea and the Top 9 List. Both have given me things to think about.

For now, I took a day and trained one of the three new characters as a ninja salvager instead of a station trader – maybe not a fortune maker, but something that I’ve never tried before. It should be fun.

The other two are station traders with 40 available trades and that’s going ok (it gives me three station traders total now). Some days I update their orders just once instead of twice, but they should still be relatively profitable. Still toying with the idea of moving all three of my traders to Jita instead of at three separate trade hubs… I'm also looking at some less active trading ideas.

I’ve also thought about setting up a small high sec POS and doing some research/invention/manufacturing – but that’ll wait until my missioner gets his faction standing up to 5 or 6…

And since the whole point of the new account is to continue the separate training programs for my pirate and mission runner I’m hoping to find something that doesn’t require diverting training to these new characters for extended periods of time. Otherwise the ideas of training them to later sell, having them do datacore research, and joining the big money incursion runners are very attractive. As is the idea of designing attractive escort avatars… Big smile

Thanks again for the ideas.

Research and blueprint copying are excellent steady sources of income that can be had from an alt with minimal SP and time investment.
