Are we able to rename planets, PI colonies, and systems? What about stations, POS, and Outposts? I think it would make the game more interactive if we could? Especially for corps and alliances because it makes their systems more personalized and develop a sense of ownership. It could also help contribute to the fiction in EVE as well. I just think it'd be awesome.

Yes, we don't have enough dumb station names in 0.0, lets name it all.....Roll

Protip: You don't own anything in EvE, including that ship you're flying, you simply pay for the right to use it.....

The B-R fight would not make any sense if the system became known as "G'Thanx Sigma 6" for 3 months, then "SpanD'llah Delta 2" the next.

The pollution of the rich history of EVE is too much of a cost for anyone to bear.

I think it would work if you let players petition CCP to change the names based on historical things and if they were conservative with doing it.

For example, the lawyer guy is a historical figure of great import now, so Jita should be renamed to reflect that. How about Jimblita?

This only seems practical to apply to W-space in multiple ways.

1. People already name w-space systems, and nobody uses the J-sig.

2. The systems aren't connected by gates, so only the person living there is at all affected by it's system name.

I would personally like to see a module for W-space (maybe use the TCU and have it behave differently in W-space?) where after it anchors it either adds a player created name after the J-sig (in quotes) or replaces the J-sig entirely.

Just ensure that mapping software and dotlan and such still recognize the J-sig.

I like the idea a lot. BUT There have to be limitations as has been pointed out. That being said it really can't be that hard to just be able to nickname systems. Leading to BR5 "Titan Hell" or BR5 "nevr frget cry evr tim". Just have the names only be assignable by alliance leaders of the alliance who holds sov and tie sov and or the alliances name + some large in game isk amount to it that would be lost if it's a poor choice.

Things do not change names often if ever in the real world.

Second, no star body has its named changed, no land mass has its name changed, cities rarely change names, why would this be different in a game?

Earth has always been Earth, you can call it whatever the hades you want, but its always Earth.

I'd not be so sure about that if I were you... because you seem to forget that there are more languages than just english on this planet leading at least to differently spelled names and there is also more than one system for naming stars and such.
