Please don't release the new font

Cant stand the new font, especially the zeros.

I can understand why a change was needed, mainly so you could distinguish between characters like 0 and O. Oh wait, I can tell the difference here without a stroke through it that makes large lists of numbers with zeroes in them burn my eyes like hellfire.

$25us paypal donation to whoever comes up with a method for me to keep using the old font. PM.

Yes, I'm using UI 90%. And menu size 9.

The small fonts in chat (A- button) looks very nice compared to the same sized text anywhere else (the wide spacing is a NEED for the small text so +1 on that). Why you no make it universal?


90% scaling does not work the same as when you make the text smaller in chat.
This has been stated a few times on the forums as has it been explained that 90% is for those who are willing to loose some readability to more window space.

I think it's pretty unfair to post a pic of text where a lot has been changed in your settings (font size and scaling, specially 90% scaling) to prove your point of the font not being readable enough. If you want to use 90% scaling I recommend you use a larger fontsize in your context menus.

Can you please explain why the smaller font look so much nicer in chat than in the menu in this screenshot?

CCP i'm guessing your changing the FONT to go with the new scenery, Just don't.

Everyone is use to the old font don't go changing crap like that instantly...
It will **** a lot of people of, chat text is the game!

Remember LESS is MORE!
That's what we always say in webdesign, don't go over the top with this Font change just change the scenery textures.

EDIT: Regarding the post above.
CCP Do not use pure white text on dark background...

New font is awesome, some people are just trying to be special by intentionally trying to break stuff. How many will use 90% scaling with 9pt font anyway? Eagles?

A lot of thought went into the new font, it's not just change for changes' sake. I do think it should be an option to maintain the old font, but the examples shown here of the new font isn't the same as what I've seen on Sisi. There's something wrong with that person's client or settings.

Use default 100% with 10pts for a 1680x1050 screen. It's not too bad.
Any messing about screws the spacing .... when reading, it feels like each letter's gouging your eyes.
Clarity wise however, there is no question that it's better than what's on TQ atm.
Style wise, it looks retro (back to the early days of computing) - on a scale of 10, I'd give it 2.

The "crossed" number 0 looks messy. I'd be in favor of having a "dotted" zero (http://www.fsd.it/fonts/pragmatapro.htm - ProgmataPro) per suggested in the test server thread.

Why am I a troll for pointing out the flaws? There are players like me who value screen space more than useless fluff and picking the smallest font is only the natural thing to do.

The thing is right now when I use the smallest font on TQ, it looks fine.

But when I use the smallest font on SISI, it looks shat.

Why CCP not make it AT LEAST AS GOOD as the old one?

Why not make the new font optional because I will pick the old one over the new one?

I haven't checked the font myself just screenshots. My two main concerns were its cartoonish look but that's a matter of taste. What I have not seen addressed is if the width is going to break the overview. Early screens said yes. And that's a deal breaker.

Stop whining over an old bad font, the new one is miles better, not perfect, but miles better, there's issues, I'm sure if they turn out to be true (as in, not manipulated like this thread op pictures) to make a point then they'll be addressed.

@op, I'm a developer too, I guess you are also or similar since you brought in PragmataPro to the thread (or you know someone who told you about that font), I value screen also, but I value my eyes better, instead of turning everything to midgetsize where you need a freaking microscope to identify stuff on the screen, try to buy a bigger monitor, makes wonders.

I like the new font as presented on Sisi. It's readable. My only gripe (overview sizing) has been addressed.

PREEZ REREASE NEW FONT CCPEEE!!!

Leaves only the fresh scent of pine.
