I call mega-ignorant! Why don't you do some reading and show me anything since the refocus anouncement that has anyone with CCP givining any indication WiS is only delayed slightly. The only offical schedule comments have been "ceased work because players didn't want it" from the CEO and "on ice indefinitely" from a dev. We are getting the last of the work already in queue in this expansion and CCP has not inidcated in any way that we can expect any more WiS related development.

Unless you call looking in on WiS sitting in the freezer with other abandoned features to confirm they are still frozen "development".

And the OP must be a troll because there has been an active thead about WiS on the first page of the forums for several weeks now. In that thread the current status of WiS has been made perfectly clear as well as a plea for CCP to respond to the community in Eve that want WiS development to continue.

They left for a lot of reasons not just WiS, they left because of NeX, they left because of the leaked internal memos, they left because they were burned out, the left because of the possibility of "golden ammo" and MTs.

I feel like I'm beating a dead horse but here goes nothing.

Remember the performance issues people were complaining about in just CQ? Multiply that for every avatar in station! Walking around with other people would be a meltdown waiting to happen.

Until they either get a new engine or work miracles with the current one I do not see WIS coming any time soon.

We get to choose what's important to us. I'm not utterly fascinated with knick knacks or cars but I fully accept that it is reasonable for others to be.

Has it been made 'perfectly clear'? WiS is not on the 'major to-do' list anymore, but I'd be really surprised if they completely abandoned it. Yes, they've said they're not planning on doing anything else WiS-related for the time being, but that's a far cry from 'we're never ever ever going do to anything with WiS again, ever'.

Now, the timeframe may have changed, and the priorities may have changed, but I'm pretty sure they're still working on it.

WiS on ice

Even after a very active thread asking CCP for any indication that WiS is still in any plan in the next few years we have only heard silence.

I think the reality is that the engine CCP bet on can't scale to multiple avatars, that is why they killed the vampires and iced WiS.

Now to those that said STFU, I say STFU to you and challenge you to any show any CCP comment post the refocus announcement or the "on ice" comment I linked.

You need to take a realistic review of the history of CCP getting back around to abandoned features. How many years since FW got any love, or even something as basic as mining. How about the SOV mechanism, POSs, smuggling, low sec revamp, moving belts to dynamic rather than static spawns, Cosmos, WHs, the promised T3 frigates or a host of other dead features in Eve. We got the only single player single instance MMORPG in the 'verse, the CQ. And that appears to have taken 4 years and is built on an engine that likely can't scale.

You cite an article that is clearly no longer relevant.

So what makes you think you'll go through that door in your lifetime.

If you really want it (I know I do) you should be posting in the WiS support thread and join the voices that demand CCP clarify the future for WiS.

All that means is that they're not releasing more until they have a solid reason. They haven't 'cancelled' it, they just haven't figured out where to go with it. And again, I point out that CCP has not yet said 'No, we'e never doing more WiS'. All we've heard so far is that they're not prepared to continue with active WiS development until they know where it's going.
