step by step guide on how to RMT.
step 1: quit your job and make a video game website
step 2: take profits from rental empire to pay people ISK to run your site/ write your articles/ do your videos/ social media
step 3: take in real money from profits from said site.

…and the trade for real money is…?

Also, what kind of profits?

I am not too keen on contributing to another bark up the old tree type of thread followed by a ritual drowning of the witch, especially when instigated by a partially nameless NPC corp alt that has his real name linked in his image as well as corp. details, firearms and so on.

But, from this article)

Quote:
In real life, he's a retired DC attorney. In Eve, he's a ruthless space dictator. Thinking about his journey from fresh-faced player to being arguably the most powerful person in the game, he tells me none of it was planned. "If you were to tell me five years ago I'd be living in Wisconsin and running a space empire full time, I'd think you were crazy." But that's what he now does. Most of his days are spent managing people in his space alliance, running his own video game news website and doing yoga.

The ability to retire at such a tender age could very well be from other factors though, so it doesn't mean the website is necessarily profitable.

I've read that quote before, about retired DC attorney etc.
Then again, he's been described by people who think they are *space-important* as a rich kid who lives with his parents, failed his law studies due to spaceships and has a serious pegging fetish. I say good luck to him if he runs a space empire in a video game full time, other people are trying like losers to cure cancer.

I'm just surprised that people will write articles for a paltry 250m ISK.

Exploiting writers is the path to riches in the internet world. Just ask A. Huffington.

Thread should be locked for allegedly discussing no no topic. It's not like he's selling GTC's and giving isk rewards like Somer did.

See Bio for isk doubling rules. If you didn't read bio, chances are you funded those who did.

Awewome article. Thanks.

I dont even superficially understand what all is happening out there, but I suppose its just a matter of time before something/someone disrupts CFCs homeostasis as in:

"Turning and turning in the widening gyre
The falcon cannot hear the falconer;
Things fall apart; the centre cannot hold;
Mere anarchy is loosed upon the world,
The blood-dimmed tide is loosed, and everywhere
The ceremony of innocence is drowned;
The best lack all conviction, while the worst
Are full of passionate intensity."
-First stanza, "The Second Coming", W.B. Yeats.

Sounds quite fitting, dont you think?

Or maybe - not? I've been retired for 10 years. I am a 45 yr old physician. I do not RMT. I've managed to earn enough of a nest egg to not worry, my health is gone (try 6 heart attacks, quintuple bypass surgery at 33 and 9 stents since then). My wife earns a 6 figure income, enough to keep us living well without harming my savings. Clear your mind of the cobwebs of jealousy for a moment and realize that some people will always be poorer than you, but some people will always be richer, too. And this does not mean they broke any of life's rules.

Whatever Mittens' financial situation is, it really is nobody's business. But hey there's this new trend in the past 20 years or so that everyone is looking at everyone else's wallet. "What's in your wallet" - there's even an obnoxious ad campaign. My generation would say "none of your ******* business and shame on you for asking". But I guess you're all socialists nowadays.

We all know Mittens is exploiting Goons and CFC for his personal benefit.

So? Whats new?

At the end of the day, there will only be an RMT drama if there is a drama stirring big group of people.

Wether that group uses the forums, TMC, EN24, reddit or something else doesnt matter.

So it is quite obvious, even if mittens is RMTing, there won´t be any drama about it. There is no drama stirring group of people out there big enough that doesnt like him.

Paying salaries in isk to people who write articles that are unrelated to eve for a for-profit business does appear to be highly problematic. It is an indirect way of converting isk into real money as the isk is given in lieu of real cash to pay for the product that drives the website. When the writing is on eve related topics it can reasonably be argued that the real money profits are just a fortunate side effect of what is otherwise a perfectly normal meta-game transaction of isk for eve-related services. For the non-eve stuff, however, this defence is impossible.

There are two types of EVE player:

those who believe there are two types of EVE player and those who do not.

Considering how many of his people are on ccp's payroll I'd be very careful in posting such topics. You may get banned for something.
