Worth salvaging Level 4 missions (No Alt)?

Hey all,

I used to salvage level 4 missions but then a lot of people told me that I was better off getting an alt and keeping him in a noctis one gate behind my main.

I still do not have an alt. However, now that I have a mobile tractor unit, would it be worth dropping one while I mission? Then return in my noctis afterwards? Wondering what the quickest way to make ISK/hour is for level 4s?

An alt with a Noctis is always going to be the best way to Salvage. Dropping an MTU will save time in terms of not having to tractor stuff with the Noctis.

It is worth Salvaging certain missions for sure. Knowing what these missions are takes a bit of time but for instance Blockade has yielded me anywhere between 20 and 35mil in loot.

ISK/hour is very vague in terms of L4's. Mainly because LP can vary in value so much. Aim to run missions smoothly and then work on maximising your ISK.

Dropping 1 mtu per room and returning later is very effective.

At lower skill levels (when clearing lvl 4s isnt super-fast anyway), you can afford the extra time it takes to salvage as it would likely pan out to more isk/time.

As your skills go up, it will be more efficient to just cherry-pick which missions you wish to salvage and ignore the others. This is pretty much what I do myself. You generally get the best salvage from the BS-heavy missions like Blockades, Angel Extravaganza, and Pirate Invasion and I almost always salvage these.

Also, if you can find a missioning system for your self that has multiple agents in the same system, or adjacent, this will speed things along too. :)

My alt uses a Vargur with a MTU and 5 salvage drones.

In most mission pockets I will just immediately drop the MTU, and start popping targets within drone control range and send the salvage drones out to get to work.

Whenever possible I will tractor in any wrecks within the 48km tractor range of the Vargur with the 3 tractor beams in my high slot.

Most of the time, by the time I'm done killing targets, almost all the wrecks will have already been looted and salvaged by my MTU / Drones.

The other alternative is to mission in an area serviced by Pro Synergy,

Coming back for the salvage alone is a pretty poor return unless you're building rigs. And even then.

If you have an alt in a noctis then you might as well salvage the wrecks as you loot them, but even then the salvage isn't worth much.

The best way IMO is to run a full gank battleship and get ProSynergy to salvage for you after. Usually coming back to salvage missions is quite inefficient and you'd be better off just blitzing the missions for bounty and LP. However if you have an alt and can dual box missions and salvage that might be better, but personally that's too much work for me for L4 missions.

Usually depends on the both the mission and the person running it. Fastest way to loot and salvage I've found is to drop an MTU in each room as soon as you land, then come back in a Noctis with maybe one or two tractors just in case the MTUs are not finished pulling in wrecks with salvagers in the rest of the highs. Typically takes an extra few minutes (depends more on how long it takes to swap ships and go back to the mission). As others have said, some missions are not worth the time at all in terms of salvage or loot. Knowing that will take you some time to figure. Salvage will also depend (as with loot as well) on market prices for individual items of worth, like tags or certain turrets or types of salvaged parts.

Faction missions - Loot (why else would you run them) / Salvage depends on the targeted faction
Blood Raiders Blockade - Salvage is usually good for Armor Plates / Loot is not so great
Angel's Extravaganza - Loot / Salvage is better in the bonus room, but poor mostly in room 1-5
any drones missions - Haven't done them in ages since drone alloys got removed, but loot is nonexistent anyways and salvage is consistently poor from what I'm told...and then, there are the bounties, lol.

This is my stance on these missions, for example, but it may be different for someone else...hence the "and the person running it" part.

"Tomahawks?"

"----in' A, right?"

"Trouble is, those things cost like a million and a half each."

"----, you pay me half that and I'll hump in some c4 and blow the ---- out of it my own damn self."

One major variable is how fast you can complete missions, this is based on the ship you use, its fittings, your SP and how much you optimised. Another variable is how good your LP store is. If you have a high dps ship and you can "speed run" missions generally you're better off not bothering with salvage or looting, because the isk and LP rewards will easily make up for it.

If you don't have a really fast mission runner or you can't be bothered to optimise or you chose an NPC corp with a mediocre LP store then it might be useful to start looting and, as ppl said; drop an MTU per pocket and bookmark it as you drop it.

Would be kinda cool if you were able to drop an MTU and then pick it up later with an Alt.

If you only have 1 toon, you can drop an MTU in those missions with lot of battleship, do another mission and come with a Noctis to salvage everything later.
I would only bother doing this on mission with lots of npc BS though as you can get 20-30m worth of loot+salvage in these for like 15min of looting.

I do it, mostly because it breaks the point and shoot doctrine.

weather it is worth it, depends on the missions, there are missions that genarate 35 to 40 million on loot and salvage and there are that genarate a mare 3 million.

I used the MTU a short while after it came out then picked stuff up with the noctis, though it turned out to be a neon sign for other people, so stopped using them.

If your salavage and Ore industrial skills are high and the mission is right (extra vaganza, two worlds collide, pirate scarlet and a few others) it's worth it, some others it's not. on the other hand, most o my salvage loot value usualy comes from the salvage and not from the loot.
