Problems with textures

1. In character creation my character was black, without any textures. I managed to get textures loaded by switching graphic settings around.

2. I can see only black planets

3. If I open the info window the picture opens into upper left corner and the ship in it is missing some of it's textures

My setup,

Wine 1.6
Ubuntu 13.10
Intel HD 4600

I have a new Nvidia card (GTX 760) arriving in few days. Is this Intel issue or issue with the game?

Can I fix it?

Already subscriped for three months.

You may need to clear the cache - if the driver issue you had prevented textures from loading properly the icons were not generated correctly. Some icons are rendered on demand and cached.

It might helped with the icons.

However the problem with info window preview and fitting window preview are still there.

The actual preview usually opens up to upper left corner, not into the window. Wich is weird. If you reopen it, then it will open normally.

Well, I think I can manage for one day with these tiny problems before I can put new 760 GTX into my PC.

Might be issues with Wine 1.6, then. Maybe try the latest one (1.7.13, I believe)?

Well I rather go with the stable version.

If I have time, I will post some screenshots about the texture problems before I switch to nvidia.

Other than that, the game runs perfectly well.

Top of that preview window shows sometimes ships missing their textures.

Wine 1.7 has a lot of fixes for EVE - aside from Linux not being a supported platform for us, there is very little we can do to fix EVE on a buggy platform - the fix is to run the latest version of Wine.

Okay, did remove wine1.6 and installed wine1.7.

Launcher works, but the problem with textures is still there.

I can do this bug like zillion times. Boot up client, open preview window, it's broken. Close it, reopen, it works.

However this should not be a problem for me after tomorrow, so chill out.

I would put my bets on bad intel drivers (1.04).

Found that from terminal.

Now I am not sure how much I have given RAM for the intel hd 4600. Let's see if there is any of these issues after tomorrow.

Anyway, the game looks beautifull and I am eager to dip into it.

Not saying anything new here, but always make sure to have the latest possible wine and driver versions because graphic developement moves fast. Your problem is most probably Intel related as I haven't seen it with nvidia or AMD graphic cards, and if I remember correctly the Intel drivers aren't exactly great.

*Your new nvidia card will spin eve like a sugarcane, so you just have some patience ;)

Yup. New card installed and first no go.

Missing 32 libs and that kind of crap. Latest Nvidia drivers did not install correctly. Well tried little older and now everything runs just nice.

No texture problems. Shaders at high. BEAUTIFULL GAME!

Might even buy a Windows 8 licence and start running my work linux stuff in virtualbox Twisted

I have always had to install driconf and force s3TC on under 'Image Quality' to get my dell laptop HD graphics card to display Eve correctly. May not be the same issue though, I guess

I just bought Windows 8.1 license and use virtualbox to do my work stuff. So consider this thread closed.

Sorry to hear that was the solution.

I find the x-swat drivers fix a lot.
