been playing around with eft trying to figure out which pvp ship I want to use

I can fly the Cerberus and the zealot.

I have all t2 guns for zealot

the question is whats the strong points of each for pvp I know most of the people I talk to run zealot fleets have't seen any cerbs running around.

when I do fittings in eft the cerb with t2 ham actual has more dps resists and speed so why does everyone favor the zealot over the cerb?

The Cerberus is a decent soloboat, the zealot is rather not a soloship.

When in doubt if you got a fleet/gang or couple mates to fly with, just go cerb.
My opinion.

The Cerb has better PAPER dps, but missiles don't project damage for crap since the hml and rapid light "adjustment". The cerb isn't going to do anywhere near the damage eft shows unless the target is webbed and painted or its a larger target.

If you don't understand the difference between paper dps and actual dps you probably shouldn't be flying either.

Cerb is a decent soloboat, but it's better with RLML against frigs, HAMs don't have the best damage application and that's a huge problem when solo as you can easily get tackled by something you can't kill while he calls in the cavalry. Zealot isn't a good soloboat for similar reasons, no drones and not enough mids so many ships can easily get under the guns, it can kite but the NOmen is a better choice for that.

If this is not for solo then either is a good choice as you should have enough tackle in fleets to apply the Cerbs dps, and Zealots have good range and good dps, in a fleet your choice will probably depend on the type of tank your fleet calls for.

Both are good gang ships, both in their respective shield and armour fleets.

A good shield fleet will have enough Huginns to make damage application (not projection) not something to worry about on HAMs. Don't bother with RLMLs and HMLs though, they don't work.

The Cerberus is too slow for solo combat, if you're planning on running shield solo, take a Cynabal or a Vagabond.

If you plan on doing DPS don't use a Cyna or a Vaga.

HAM Cerb is fine as long as it has a faction web for counter tackle IMO, the Zealot is a great mid size armour gang boat, excellent resists etc.

Alternatively if you want a small nano gang anti-support ship the Man Zealot is great fun;

Its probably a little 2012 but if you are doing something relatively slow like Talos or Oracles it can be a great anti-frigate tool.

Zealot is fleet only. It's a nice support ship in both a shield or armor fleet. There used to be a whole doctrine build around Zealots: ABHACS, whose iterations still work today.

You should consider a Navy Omen aswel. It's a zealot for small groups or solo work. You lose a little bit of dps and resists but EHP is the same, you get drones, a utility high and better speed.

If you have the missile skills for the cerb and the ship command skills for the Zealot... try the Sacrilege. It's better suited for solo. Good drone bay, plenty of capacitor for active tanking, passable DPS.

Try the Zealot then, specialy funny when a Taranis manage to get under your gun and there is absolutely nothing you can do while it melt your armor and you wait for potential friends to come bail you out.
