I don't have any difficulty reading the new font, and I have had serious vision issues over the last year.

Probably because of that I am very sympathetic to anyone else having difficulties seeing text in the game, as you are basically hamstrung at that point.

I take it you are still having difficulties? Have you tried scaling up the UI a bit?

I haven't had that issue at all. In fact, the difficulty reading the old font with my aging eyes is a reason why I haven't been playing EVE as much... That and Skyrim.

Seriously, just use Arial, Tahoma or some sort of San Serif.

I look at the new font and immediately think Everquest 1, Global Agenda, and everything else that sux...

Bank Gothic LT is a good choice actually but I think too many people would QQ about it, although I usually set up windows to use that font for everything every time I get a new computer.

Heh, they even agree that the font doesn't look very "SciFi", but I'll take readability over style in this case.

It doesn't even need to be sci-fi, just not look like something you would see on an Apple IIe or some crap. It's pretty horrible, makes the entire game look awful and it's no more readable than what we have now. Actually harder to read depending on how small you like your chat text.

Don't get me wrong.

Having both clarity AND style would be very nice.

I think a lot of this has to do with the sheer volume of text an EVE player commonly has choking their game real estate. Much more than most any other game I can easily think of. That presents challenges that would obviously not be much of an issue in other games.

I have no problem with the font at its bigger sizes. But I have problem with its smaller texts. A newly designed font with the primary goal of making it CLEARER TO READ only achieves the goal by turning up the text size when your smaller text is still as unreadable if not IMPOSSIBLE to read (see the above screenshot) is simply unacceptable. If nothing else I expect to see the new font to be more readable or at least AS READABLE AT THE SAME SIZE that I'm using because I don't want to sacrifice my already stuffed screen area for an update if it's not going to IMPROVE things.

I can't go along with you there, after struggling (a lot) this past year to read EVE text I'm not having any difficulties what-so-ever reading the new one.

That being said, I fully respect that everyone's eyes are different, and if they don't fall into the "normal" category others may have difficulties with it that I do not have.
