OK enough is enough.

Fix the socket error already!

Seriously, every 10 minutes, no matter the system I'm in, or what I'm doing. ::The socket has been closed::

P.S.
Don't tell me to file a bug report, been there, got nothing. (isn't that what the devs are getting paid for?)

Don't tell me about a possible workaround (can I work around paying my sub fees?)

Just fix your crappy service, you know the thing us customers pay for.

Welcome back, we've missed your whines.

They need their own thread, just to distinguish themselves from all the other threads on the same topic.

Yes, actually. It's called a PLEX

I just undocked for the first time and someone challenged me to a duel. Wat do?

The problem can be anywhere between your computer and CCP's servers.

Example: I had to replace my wireless router (Netgear WNDR4500) because it was always dropping packets both over the air and even on its built-in switch. A 75 foot CAT-6 cable did the trick.

The problem must be on your side. For sure.

"Problems on your side"
"Problem could be in between"

That's why a couple of hundred people from all over the world are having them same problem, right?
Everything is fine on my end, nothing else drops, 100% uptime on my isp, never logged out of TS or any other online service at the same time.

It's a ccp problem, they know it.
I guess it's better for them to make new shineys though.

Are they really suggesting it's your fault? I've been getting hammered by this for three days now. Started up again about an hour ago.

So you're saying 1000s of players are suddenly having problems with their hardware?

Three times in the past half hour.

Players from Cleveland, Boston, Phoenix, and Valmy, Sweden ALL dropped at exactly the same time.

It's not us.

Hm, I don't think it's a problem between OP and CCP. I can't even log in, and I got disconnected 2-3 times before I stopped loging in at all.

I completely agree and have actually sent a not-so-nice letter about the issue to CCP. They once reimbursed a ship loss due this specific error, the next I lost they wouldn't reimburse.

Apparently the issue is "either on my end or in the middle" as they claim.

All I can say is, when I get this error, why is it that no other web service is disconnected at the same time? I play other online games where I play on overseas servers and never get disconnected.

And yes, this is something that really grinds my gears. Unlike many others, I don't have the time to farm up ISK to PLEX my accounts and puchase ships, mods etc. Instead, I have to purchase my subscriptions and PLEX with RL money. Taking this into consideration, I find it unacceptable that CCP wouldn't reimburse me due to this error.

At this rate I may as well just send a cheque to CCP and tell them not to bother about supplying a PLEX or Game time to me. Because essentially, that's basically what is happening.

I have sent tracert and ping plotter logs to CCP asking for a solution, but they choose to put their head in the sand....

According to the stats it was actually about 2.500 that dropped, out of 31.000.

Which smells carrier issue.

CCP Greyscale: As to starbases, we agree it's pretty terrible, but we don't want to delay the entire release just for this one factor.

Nice

Otherwise could it just be the DirectX issue again?
Not saying that it is.. I jsut remember a few weeks back had to change to DirectX 9 from 11 because the game was being bad.

But i myself have regular dropouts.. bt that is due to my poor internet and bad router

I was having issues with directx 11 when the option was added to the client. The problem must have been fixed since I've been in dx11 setting for a while now.

Verizon fios customer reporting in for socket closed whine and cheese tasting thread.

No issue with counter strike (although 3 maps and bored out of skull at shallow entertainment ).

There are good ships,

And wood ships,

And ships that sail the sea

But the best ships are Spaceships
