I fully support this.

Hmmm. Perhaps if this idea causes explosions, or if you can get a hotshot in a big alliance to support it, then it will happen.

Else like everything else it won't.

What about a contest to design a POS Runabout that would have a Structures Cargo Hold of 4000 m/3, an Ammunition Cargo Hold of 1000 m/3 and a regular cargo hold of 250 m/3. The first two cargo holds could only be used to store the appropriate items with the third cargo hold being able to hold anything.

The Runabout would not have any high slots, one medium slot and one low slot with three rig slots rated at 400 units of calibration.

The Runabout would have a based velocity of 275 m/3 and with velocity upgrades could well reach 400 m/3 easy to allow for fast deployment of structures and resupply of ammo as well as transferring ore and items between one array and another.

The image that I have in my mind is something along the lines of a mixed Venture miner with a section or two of Iteron Cargo modules trailing behind it.

Or maybe it would just be easier to slap some velocity rigs a t2 MWD and t2 overdrives to a Mammoth.

Another new ship to think about would be T3 Cargo Hauler built around the T3 Cruiser design philosophy where various sub-systems would effect the characteristics of the ship itself.

Each T3 Industrial would have three cargo sub-system slots, a propulsion sub slot, and a defensive sub slot.

For example one t3 sub would create a POS Structure Cargo Bay of 4000 m/3 where another sub would create a regular cargo bay of 350 m/3 and the third would create a PI Interaction Cargo bay of 500 m/3.

A propulsion sub increasing velocity by 200% and a defensive sub that would effect either the shield or armor resistance by adding 25% resistances across the board would round the sub systems.

The ship would have two high slots, three medium slots and three low slots with three rig slots rated at 400 calibration units.

I still like the idea the idea of a contest to design a POS as we do need something new to look at.

My suggestion is incorporate various objects such as twisted asteroid formations into the design or maybe even design a POS that is built entirely within and on the surface of the roid.

These types of POS would sell in an instant.

Well, i was hoping mostly here for a visual design, that will have some major idea behind it, but just like the last one, i'd like to see contest that is about hull design first of all, stats can be just given as idea for CCP to work from there.

i'd like to help make random ship design threads become a thing in My EVE, that strikes me as the most appropriate section for it? there's a basilisk design in my head that i'd like to share, and yes i am aware 'but osprey.' in this case it is an inspiration that is related to the T2 variant. (osprey is a bird, in following the caldari tradition, but the basilisk is a lizard-thing)

still can't complain after the handsome rattlesnake, i love it that much.

I've thought of Missile/shield Pirate Faction ships...

Mordu's Legion Ships!

I even thought of stats and names for them, but my thread got buried Lol

I'm even making a 3D model for the BS, just for fun~♪

I fully support this idea.

Right now the best looking shops in the game are those that won the design contest.

the best way to wag the dog is just start posting concept stuff that looks good, so the general player base will have something to get behind. it's not a guarantee that anything will be done, but i think it's the best chance this community has of starting a "thing" with concept art. and I think it would be good. rolling, crowdsourced item design is something being done by another game, *cough*, and in this community it's still a huge area for additional content. the returns in terms of community content for a little bit of effort are pretty high.

it's up to the artists to start this, and it's too early to expect a promise of implementation (that's the point of another contest). we have no idea what their manpower or budget is like, and the chances are slim they would spare it ...and/so it's a mistake to ask for something right now, from CCP, who will probably remain silent and/or not pay attention unless something is very loud and beneficial to subscription numbers. unsolicited concepts are just make-believe, but when it comes to subscriptions, hope and imagination are a close second after delivering. i think EVE players understand this

[like the story we're told about how valkyrie didn't become a 'thing' until it was made into a working example of something. probably wouldn't have happened if it was pitched as a concept]

i've taken a look at what is being submitted in the contest held by that other game, and if I share anything it will look at least as good as those.

I missed the last contest/i was off doing army stuff. but i'm caught up now. that was fairly entertaining

and there's these guidelines that would be a good idea to follow (rules)
