Just had this happen to me for the first time, assumed it was that CCP screwed up and started downtime 45m early. Nothing eve related worked and the starting the launcher lead to numerous errors. Now I try again and get a offline message propper, I can't have this crap happening when billions of isk are on the line. Thankfully it wasn't this time.

....and happened again.

Is this normal? Only been playing for about 8 days, is this part of the new player experience?

Incidentally, in trying to connect to the forums, I'm seeing the following error:

Quote:
Secure Connection Failed

An error occurred during a connection to forums.eveonline.com. Cannot communicate securely with peer: no common encryption algorithm(s). (Error code: ssl_error_no_cypher_overlap)

The page you are trying to view cannot be shown because the authenticity of the received data could not be verified.
Please contact the website owners to inform them of this problem. Alternatively, use the command found in the help menu to report this broken site.

Again, playing from Australia, ISP is Internode.

When I first logged in, there were >42000 other pilots online. Just managed to reconnect, now the launcher is saying that there are 16075 other pilots on.

Can't possibly be our ISP related if the server is kicking off close to 26,000 pilots at the same time.

I am struggling too. I tried to log on at 2000 eve time and I am still getting socket closed at 2300. The rest of my internet is working and Tranq is showing 33k users on the launcher. Is this more likely to be my connection?

Message is:

"Could not connect to the specified address. Odds are that you have not established an internet connection, the server isn't running, or the server address or port number was wrong."

It's obviously an issue on the side of CCP.

I haven't had a single disconnect/socket error in 6 months before last 8 or so days, now I get them on a hourly basis.

I get 4 ping and 20/28 mbps on speedtest while my internet is very close to a backbone. I also cleared cache.

Is CCP getting DDoSed?

Yeah, I'll have to concur, definitely on my end as my tracert fails at the same spot every time, yep... Though might not be CCP's fault either, but def something up with generalized internet traffic going their direction. Perhaps they should talk with ISPs to figure this out...

Excerpt from my tracert:

Tracing route to eveonline.com [87.237.39.92]

5 17 ms 19 ms 20 ms be28.clevohek01r.midwest.rr.com [65.29.1.46]
6 23 ms 29 ms 31 ms 107.14.19.58
7 27 ms 23 ms 23 ms 107.14.19.135
8 26 ms 23 ms 24 ms TeG1-4.ar4.DCA3.gblx.net [208.49.195.129]
9 147 ms 144 ms 134 ms BANDCON.TenGigabitEthernet1-2.ar7.AMS2.gblx.net [64.215.27.114]
10 151 ms 110 ms 106 ms HOST-102.EDGE-FO.AMS1.VERISIGN.COM [199.7.55.102]
11 * * * Request timed out.
12 * * * Request timed out.
13 * * * Request timed out......

Never makes it past that, can't even ping eveonline.com either, even though I can log in (at the moment I'm not socket disconnected, well I might be just haven't been told yet).

So its making it past my ISP, but I don't know enough about the structure/organization of the backbone to know if this is still in the states or if its getting across the pond before failing.

I won't be taking my goods to Jita to sell today with these conditions...

I seem to only get the "socket closed" errors when attempting to run a second client. Can anyone else confirm they are also having this problem?

Edit: To clarify: One client runs fine, as soon as I open a second client and attempt to login a different account, both clients receive "socket closed"

Confirming this is a thing, even on a single client. I've been having trouble connecting and have been periodically disconnected all day.

Similar issue to many of you:

- two chars both logged out at jita
- tried logging in on both, screen black, then two socket errors appear

I can confirm this was fixed, in my case, by the quote below - I've a place in London.

- right click on the adapter disable
- wait a couple seconds
- right click on the adapter and enable

Doing these steps seemed to have cleared up my issue.

Oddly enough, after performing these steps, my launcher will not let me log in anymore. After entering the login data, all I see is the launcher background and no game client will start.

EDIT: - I have managed to get both clients to run, by simply using one CPU core for each client. Anyone with similar issues confirm please?

Running a tracert it dies on " HOST-102.EDGE-FO.AMS1.VERISIGN.COM [199.7.55.102]" too. Not posting the tracert because i'm not sure what to snip.

I'm in Montreal, Canada. Long story short i could log an alt but now i can't, i get a socket closed.

Tell me the techies work on the weekend.

This is turning out to be an all day outage here.

Sadly this issue has a very limited impact, as you can see by their concurrency. The impact seems to be rather low, hence even if CCP knows about this, they are not receiving enough reports to make this high enough priority to notify their engineers over the weekend.
All we can do is hope this will fix itself soon.

Black Screen for 2 minutes
Socket Closed.

Only happens on 1 of my characters. The others are fine. Been going on for a half hour on this character and ONLY this character, so obviously not an issue on my end.

Also, launcher takes ages to validate my login.
