(Dis)honorable dueling - A call for a revamp of a broken system

In the first place, duel system shouldn't never be added to the game, is against the EVE core design concepts.

Anyway, was added to remove the aggression flag issues, not to enforce a specific ethic or idea of "honor".

Go figure how "honorable" is someone in need of a specific game mechanics to keep them in line.

What's a TL;DR?
I apologize for posting this in the wrong area. I"ll re-post in F and I.

If you remote rep someone in a duel, you do not get a suspect flag. In the example I gave, the logi never got a suspect flag. I petitioned CCP and got a response saying that's how it works currently, but that I can post on forums if I thought it should be changed. Also, here is a link to to a previous forum thread confirming that you do not receive a suspect flag for RRing someone in a duel. - https://forums.eveonline.com/default.aspx?g=posts&t=250522

Thanks to all who have contributed their ideas and input.

Then you should bug-report it.

…which doesn't say that you don't receive a suspect flag. In fact, it hardly mentions the word.

+1

Anybody expecting a fair fight, no matter what the circumstances, should just turn off their guns, unrack the ammo and kill their drive.

I know that not everyone that plays Eve is an American but did you know:

...that in the time following the founding of the United States, then Vice-President Aaron Burr and Alexander Hamilton (who is credited with founding the economic basis by which America prospered in the 1800s) had a duel with each other? Hamilton fired first but missed (he didn't have any tracking enhancers) and then Burr fired and hit Hamilton square in the chest. Hamilton died the next morning.

Incidentally, it is Alexander Hamilton's face on the American $20 bill.

Andrew Jackson is on the $20. He fought in several duels.

I did, indeed know that, Kimmi. However, Hamilton's face graces the $10 note. The more interesting point of said duel, was Mr. Hamilton's honor. A point that the OP should take into account. In letter's and notes written before said duel, he announced (albeit, to himself) his intention to purposely miss Burr, for the sake of his honor.

Hamilton's honor cost him his life. Burr lived on.

Perhaps the OP would contribute something on the scale of Hamilton's contributions as Secretary Of The Treasury, and he could be immortalized on something forever, like an Aurum token. Or something, vOv.

Instead, he will simply fade into obscurity as another person who argued the same points that were argued a thousand times before in General Discussion, simply because he wasn't bright enough to use the search function.

So sad.

That is indeed a wonderful quote.

I think the OP was having one of these moments, when the opponent in question outsmarted him using the same tools from the same toolbox we are all provided.

You can also make the case that he committed genocide.

Yes, quite so. Attempted genocide might be more accurate, though. I'm assuming that you are talking about the Trail of Tears. I am of Cherokee descent myself, so his attempt was not completely successful.

Confirming that Andrew Jackson must have been a sociopath because he started duels and ordered the ganking of Csrebear Native Americans because they were "doing it wrong".

Trolling replies attacking me aside, duels could be a very valuable for new and old players alike as a way of gaining a lot of experience in 1v1's. I see no downside of making duels a system that allows you to enter a 1v1 knowing what you're going up against. A criminal flag for RR interference would be nice. Now allowing docking and coming back in bigger and ba

Criminal is a bit harsh, because that will invoke Concord in highsec.

But are you sure the logi received no flag at all. He should have received a suspect flag and then been engagable by anyone.

Also, if you are going to duel, make sure you are off station so they can't dock immediately, or ensure that they engage you so they have an aggression timer.

If they dock up or warp off (some leave ships in space for quick change), then either dock up yourself and wait out the 5 minutes, or warp off.

In addition to logi, many of the highsec station gamers have links too. Taking one on is a lottery if you aren't familiar with them and know how they are setup.
