I just experienced a few minutes of socket errors in the middle of a mission. Nothing lost, just was able to get back in. This is just an FYI there are still issues.

Dropped me and about half of local too. I got back in, but lag made the game pretty much unplayable. DDOSes suck.

Half of my shield tanked BS armor was gone, who stepped on the hamster? Dropped me into nothingness.

Lost a ship to whatever caused the disconnect at approx 20:30 PM. Out of interest what's the timescale on reimbursements?

Not expecting, hoping. The server dropped a shitton of connections so the problem isn't our end, it's at CCPs end and they generally reimburse for things like DDOS's.

If they reimburse me then yay, if not then I can live with it, because I didn't lose anything I couldn't afford to.

Asking for reimbursements is simply greedy. I'm grateful for what CCP has provided us, and this (probably) isn't their fault.

That said, I don't get many opportunities during my day to play the game. I'm finally giving up for the day and heading back to work, and this session was overall unplayable due to dropped connections. This is something I'm paying for, so I do feel a little upset about the situation.

I just hope this gets resolved soon

That said I'm still not upset about it, CCP cant exactly control what every sad nerd does with their time for jollies. They CAN control what kind of defenses they employ.

It isn't CCP's fault. Every other MMO gets affected by this, LoL got DDoS'd a few weeks ago as well as Wurm, if it's the same person they are just targeting EVE instead.

You'd have to be happy the entire server isn't down this time however unlike LoL. Preventing DDoS attacks is possible but it can cost lots of money and stuff required to do it. Almost everything can be affected by it.

Well it's not necessarily true that they can always prevent every failure.

In this case it sounds like a DDoS attack. Sure, there are services like CloudFlare that are DDoS protections, but they don't work 100% (they increase the amount of traffic a site can take, but not infinitely), and really only works on content like websites, not so much MMO services.

Welcome to the early 21st century Internet. DDoS is a current trend in cybersecurity that does not have a solid solution yet.

EDIT: Also, you have to consider the business decisions CCP has to make. Almost every company on the planet would go bankrupt if they employed the best protections against every type of known attack. They have to prioritize their budget based on vulnerability risk assessment.
