Some nice little changes although can we have a timer circle for module reloads any time soon, particularly for long reload modules like rapid light launchers and ancillary shield and armor boosters

  • The Directional Scanner has now 2 input fields (km and AU) and a slider for range input. The 3 inputs are connected so when one is changed, the other ones update.
  • The angle slider in the D-scanner as been changed so it's non-linear and has even steps to make it easier to select the lower angles

I honestly frakking love you!

All very nice, but how about fixing the trade bug that has been around forever ?

You know, the very annoying one where you cannot trade with a character from the chat lists, you have to scroll through the guests in station services.

How about the ability to filter the local list to only show war targets/low standing/neutrals/etc? With hundreds or thousands in local it can be difficult to determine if a war target is in system for example and if your list is scrolled you may not see a new one enter system.

Local was never meant to be used as intel tool, and CCP had said that in the past.

Now, filtering out only Wartargets on Overview is extremely needed

As a matter of fact, any numeric input field can be adjusted with a scroll wheel by its lowest interval. Try that on market order's quantity, just flick the wheel to bump the quantity to 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, etc. This is a feature of the UI as a whole, rather than any specific window.

On the new DScan, when you set input to the AU field, you can use the scroll wheel to adjust it, however it goes in 0.1 intervals.... so this can take a while.

Suggestion for D-Scan Window -

Where it says USE ACTIVE OVERVIEW SETTINGS

Add in the option to select one of the different tab overview settings

USE ACTIVE OVERVIEW SETTINGS or OTHER ( Dropdown Menu of Current Tabs)

Something like that ...

DSCAN!!!! DEEEEEESCANNNNNN!!!!

This change simply has to go down in EvE lore. I'll start you off...

As far back as history is documented, pod pilots throughout New Eden longed for their complex on-board navigation computers to perform simple arithmetic functions. Navigation computers were in some respects amazing machines as they could identify a stargate many astronomical units away and navigate to within in a couple of kilometers from it, but oddly enough none of them could perform the simple calculation required to convert between those two units of distance (or length for those from Molden Heath). This was made even stranger because they often displayed both units in the pod pilot's overview. Could such a seemingly simple thing really be New Eden's great unsolvable conundrum?

Given how strongly and how long pod pilots had yearned for the simple feature of unit conversion, anyone who managed to provide a fast & convenient solution was sure to go down in the annals of history as the greatest mind to have ever existed. Sure, some say it seemed trivial. Maybe it was trivial, but only one pilot stepped up to the challenge. As we all know today, this incredible accolade goes to the pioneering pilot known as CCP Karkur...

The DScan changes are absolutely awesome but I got one little suggestion. Please add another range to the range slider, something really short like 100k km, 0.1 AU or something around that.
This range is used very often in factional warfare, to check who is inside a complex when you are outside of it at the acceleration gate or, while you are inside the complex, if someone has landed at the accgate.

Where are the S&I updates?
Or will we not see them in 1.3
Do tell, b/c knowing the current goal would help my anxiety levels decrease a little.

p.s. Even if you goal is 1.3 and you tell me it is, I will not get mad if it doesn't make it b/c of some issues. Just would love a heads up on what to expect.

CCP is killing it in the UX changes over the past year or so. Man, great changes!

I love the new DSCAN, thank you.

Could you move the scan button closer to the range / angle sliders as it is on TQ now?

Awesome work! ShockedCool

I'm liking the AU/KM conversion in the D-scanner. I wondering tho is the range slider really that useful? The presets are bad. Why is 0 AU even an option? It's not even like a super short range or even on grid scan. It is 0 KM. Extremely useless. I would like to see more values between 1 AU and 5 AU. Currently it goes straight from 1 to 5. There are 7 stops on the field of view scanner why not the same on the range? I think 14.3-10-8-6-3-1-0.5 would be ideal for most applications. If it must remain 5 then I say 14.3-10-6-3-1 are the magic numbers.

Also I'm loving the new space between 5 and 15 degrees.

Since you're messing around with ways to display player names, I would like to suggest the following:

Allow for sorting of Local in a tree view filtered by standings. In scenarios where there are hundreds of pilots in system, it's difficult, if not impossible, to get an accurate estimate of the number of friendly/hostile pilots in system without guestimating based on fleet numbers (imprecise since it may include pilots out of the system) or manually scrolling the entire list to count blues, reds, and neutrals.

It's also silly that when jumping into a crowded highsec system, I need to spend several seconds scrolling through the local list trying to see if there are any war targets in system.

I propose a collapsible tree structure that, at the top level, shows you the number of each standings type, with a control to allow for expansion of the node to view individual pilot names. For example:

[+] Red (130)
[+] Blue (100)
[+] Alliance (30)
[+] War Targets (3)
[-] Corp (5)
|----Pilot A
|----Pilot B
|----Pilot C
|----Pilot D
|----Pilot E

The client already has all of this information, since it is used to assign color tags, and this seems like a relatively straightforward quality of life UI improvement that would be useful to most, if not all, players. You could also make its use optional if someone preferred to have the entire list broken out for some reason.

Many thanks for the D-scan refinements, any chance of allowing us to select a specific overview setting to use, rather than our active one?

Great to see some chat (and guest list) changes, they will be welcomed. To go a little furter in this, I would to request the option to have standings shown in chat.
I'm also very interested in it ("hey, were we the only ones gf-ing in local or did the other side do it too?" P) and have protyped it. However, before we add it, I want to make sure there are no performance issues with it and I haven't had time to go into that yet.

That's like a totally different system that would need to be built, and I don't see us turning this into that anytime soon, sorry Sad

That's correct... but in my experience you can scroll very fast through all these numbers, way faster than I thought you could (it was even fast when we had 2 decimals)

Sorry, but no, there won't be any Science and Industry changes in 1.3, but that does not mean that we have forgotten about you, so please be patient Smile

since all the input fields are connected, the lowest option of the slider needs to be the lowest number you can put in the input fields. 0.5AU is 74799000 km, which might be a higher value than you want to use, so having it go from 0 allows you to pick any km you want and just makes sense to us

we had started to play with that, but then took a step back and decided not to feature creep too much, since that increased the complexity of the change quite a bit.
