I love SWTOR, just like I love EVE. I've been having a blast in the beta. This thread silly imo.

Yeah, I had access to beta quite a while back and already figured out that it's just mediocre trash. People defend it because they WANT it to be good but in reality it's nothing fantastic. Bioware has been missing swings a bit lately, not sure what to think of it.

Excellence is not a skill, it's an attitude.

MMO's are a genre who's keystone is longevity. No one wants to grind to lv100 and get their rare equipment just to have the servers close or the population fall to squat... so an MMO based on a licensed IP and leaning on production values like VO is a PURPOSE BUILT FAIL TRAIN.

This. It's taking some risks and trying to move MMO game play forward. Area effects, mechanics of death/dying, movement, and item/skill interaction. Even if it fails it will be more fun to try than another WoW clone hosed down with star wars juice and if it succeeds it will be worth your time for a decade.

That said, SW:TOR will be out much sooner. It will probably live, thrive, and fall to a niche population before GW2 releases.

Of course SWTOR will drive a big chunk of players away from eve. And in the bigger picture its only justice. EVE stole stuff from SWTOR, now SWTOR will take it back in form of subscribers. That's the obvious truth, I don't think I have to explain it.

I canceled my EVE account for SW:TOR. I usually don't like themepark MMOs but SW:TOR was extremely enjoyable due to RPG aspects. If you like bioware RPGs then you will also like SW:TOR. I can see that I'll level up couple of different classes till I return back to EVE. Also, there are many players who fled to EVE from NGE-SWG. As one of pre-cu SWG players I really loved SW:TOR, so chances are ex-SWG players will go to SW:TOR from EVE for at least couple of months.

Will SW:TOR steal subscribers from EVE? Yeah, but only a small amount.
