Obviously the most important event was my appearance in 2012. Big smile

Nope. A system called "time dilation" (short, TiDi) was implemented, in which the server intentionally puts the action into slow-mo so it can handle everything going on. The effect is that everything moves, shoots, etc, more slowly but the system does not crash.

As with many things, TiDi has its own hiccups, but CCP has been monitoring and improving it, especially since it gets them some really nice fame because of huge battles like Asakai.

Ed: Unrelated note... There has been extensive rebalancing of a majority of ships, with many getting complete makeovers with new roles, slot layouts, etc. There are also a bunch of new ships. Make sure to check everything out, and don't rely by default on any 2011 loadouts.

New licensing deal with Lucasfilm allowed CCP to introduce Star Wars ships into the game, but only the ****** ones
Gallente were removed from the game
"The door" in all captains quarters opened for one day. The door lead to a featureless white room with an old Jove man inside. If players attempted to interact with him, he would say "What took you so long?" and shoot the player in the head. CCP explained this was a metaphor for the pointlessness of desire.

hahaha...

Well done sir, because of falcon.

That all seems like good news at least.

As far as load outs go, that's a good point. Hell, I might still have a few cruisers with "large rigs" on them somewhere. It looks like I have some catching up to do.

TEST died rip rip o7 o7

Checks alliance ticker. Nope. TEST is still alive and well, though significantly diminished.

@OP, tiericide. All T1 have been rebalanced. Most of T2 have been rebalanced. (CCP doesn't seem to know what to do with recons.)

The Deimos is a solo pvp beast.

Caldari HACs are now good.

Dramiel is mostly dead.

PL just lost a war.

Tier 3 Battlecruisers (the ones with the large guns mentioned above) are pretty baller and are primarily snipers, Talos excepted.

Drake and Heavy Missiles got nerfed into the ground. HAMs are awesome, though still short range.

All Medium turrets are now viable.

Faction Warfare is huge. Every FW war-zone is well populated. Losec is now a vibrant and active community.

Exploration got.... changed. New mini-game. No rats. Resultant drop in T2 salvage and invention items prices crashed the cost of T2 rigs. They are now affordable, though still no cheap.

Marauders got a new Bastion module that give them the most ridiculous tank ever. 1M EHP and 10k dps active rep tanks are possible.

And about one thing has not changed: The Mittani (a la GoonSwarm and the greater CFC) is still winning Eve.

I think that about does it.

edit: Oh lord. How could I forget.... Drones are now the best weapon system in Eve (until this summer.) Dominix and Ishtar fleets abound.

Big change: T1 logistics and EWAR ships are now viable--so viable, in fact, that several of them have had to be nerfed back down. There are T1 logistics frigates--three out of four of them are the old mining frigates--and they're a thing. The exception is the Tormentor, which is now a kiting combat ship; the Inquisitor is now the Amarr logistics frigate.

There is a dedicated mining frigate, the Venture. Mining barges, exhumers and industrials have been changed considerably--there's now a reason to own something other than a Hulk (even the Venture scales up quite nicely).

Sisters of EVE now has faction ships.
