Fellow Pod Pilots,

*Note,
I dont usually request advice as I can read and research myself, however I would really appreciate some opinions advice on the below.

Due to a massive restriction of my internet time for the next 4 and a 1/2 months (on very short notice) I find myself in the situaution where i have to plug in some fairly long skills to cover time away from Eve.

This is fairly tricky as I already have Minny/Amarr BS V, BC V, Minny/Amarr/Caldari Cruiser V, Recon V, Logi V, HAC V, AWU V, Drone Interfacing V plus all the usual Gunnery skills for Minny and Amarr to V (Basically just the Spec's to get to V and thats me maxed out) Same detail for missiles. Tank skills are all ready for caps and like I say I have prereq's for Triage and Siege mods.

So this leaves me with Cap skills to train basically.

So finally we reach the meat of the topic. I know that there are some changes coming up for Caps so I wont get into which specific cap is the "best" etc etc. What I am after is an overall brief on which out of Amarr and Minmatar will provide me with the most versatile carrier/Dread for Low sec POS bashing and Fleet suppourt (Logi).

Ofc I will train for them both in time and even go for Caldari Cap's as well, can't help mixing and matching my races :)
In summary, an overview on the pro's and con's of each race flying in the DPS/Tank, POS Bash or Logi roles.

All opinions welcome as long as there is some knowledge experince behind them. No "Fly Amarr coz theyz looks the bestest" please.

I would research this myself but only having 100mins of WiFI time for a week dont think the Missus would be too chuffed if I use it all to research Internet Spaceships instead of speaking to her ;)

Could always go for:

Advanced Spaceship Command 5
Capital Ships 5
Fighters 5
Jumpskills 5


Depending on your remap pick one. If you are starting the train for cap ships then you need Adv Command 5. Capships 5 is about 60 days from 0 to 5. Jump skills maxxed is about 90 odd days I think.

On the other hand, you could pick up Black Ops and have a mini covops bridge in hand for hotdropping lulz.

My experience is:
All the big PvP corps use Triage Archons for their hot-drop ops. The Archon is for armor fleets (which are historically stronger) and has an amazing tank. I have never personally owned one, but I have shot at several. If there was a Nid on the field, along with other carriers, the Nid would almost always be primary.

As for Dreads:
Fly Amarr coz theyz looks the .... oh wait...
The Rev clearly does massive EM damage which would be optimal in many situations.
I personally use the Nag, because it's the only Dread with 4 weapon hardpoints. Amazing damage that is also selectable. And it looks pretty cool too !

As for looks:
I refuse to own another Phoenix because it's just plain Fugly. So even though looks shouldn't be a factor, imo they are relative.

Thanks for the replies so far.

I am leaning towards Amarr for the Archon atm.

Cap Ships V sounds like a good plan though as well as fighters V ftw.

I should probably add that I intend to use Cap's in Low Sec as I am not a null dweller atm. If this makes a difference then feel free too add some comments.

In lowsec you are BEGGING to get supers dropped on you. The mechanics of super EWAR immunity means they have to be bubbled or HIC'd to be tackled. No bubbles in lowsec .... gotta have a HIC. Most people that operate in lowsec do not have the required numbers of HICs to pin a super. So they come in, kick your toy around and break it, then leave.

Dont fit anything more expensive than T2 on any cap you are flying around in low.
