People been asking me about this, as if I would know. No, there is no "planet vampire" to go visit with my space ship and look down on to see if the coffins are opened or something.

Looking up on the issue, I get the impression that CCP is trying real hard to make sure WoD does not get a "meh" release, as if it's going to be just another MMO that comes and goes in 6 months. This means being dynamic - working on the project while keeping an eye out for what fails and what works and keeping the newest tech in that develops as well. This can not be an easy task. How many MMOs have we seen that took a few years to develop but would have been successful if it were released at roughly the same time the development started?

And frankly, I think CCP is capable of pulling that off. Don't think so? What's this space game that people like to hate so much but keep on playing?

Maybe they have made some research and from the looks of it, they deducted, we can't make money on this, like with DUST, and its one game too much for the CCP to handle. There is one game on the market they could be fearing, and its Funcoms game, Secret World.

They said it would be made in the image of Vampire the Masquerade. Maybe they're having trouble transforming the success of the singleplayer game into an multiplayer one?

I just had the startling revelation that I'm super excited for this game, but I have no idea what it's even about. Well, I mean i know it's about vampires, but what do you even do? Or have they not even said yet?

If possible, I just wanna run some super secret, exclusive nightclub and make everyone refer to me as Mistress while I sit around smoking a kiseru in chair that's way to big for me while I wear a robe that's way too small for me.

At this time it is assumed you the player will be able to own a haven if not eventually have your own nightclub and or hopefully other buildings/businesses. As to your statement of not knowing what the game will be about I would suggest reading up on the lore of White Wolf VtM:V20 http://www.thesubnet.com/portal/wod/vtm20/index.html and there is other info/assumptions/opinions here http://newsbynight.net/

Edit: Also there are many communities out there dedicated to WoDO and the hopes it will see the "light of day" soon xD

Yeah, CCP, more news on this would be great. I do not know why you keep sacking people working on it. If you must sack people off, sack DUST people, who cares about PS3 crap? WoD MMO deserves to be made, especially if it is made by you guys...

Lol

Shut down WIS to appease whiners.
Essentially shut down WOD.
Monetize DUST into every other F2P, P2W shooter.
Continue modeling EVE towards the 1% super rich douche nozzels.
Wonder why star citizen makes more in 6 months than you make all year.....

He's dead, Jim [insert dramatic ST music sting here]
WoD is dieing™

Of course, Iceland just went through a crazy financial incident, on the recovering side of things, just glad EVE/CCP survived it. But yes, flee to SC, just don't forget to contract your stuff over to me on your way out ;)

Because it appeals to "normal people".

Either that or it has an extremely good marketing team. Lol

Tolian Soran: Have you ever considered a prosthesis that would make you look a little more... how can I say... more normal?
Geordi La Forge: What's normal?
Tolian Soran: "What's normal?" Well, that's a good question. Normal is what everyone else is and you are not.

Of course normal now is to launch big with lots of promises, makes some monies, then slowly dwindle away...

So which one of you was just on 4chan, sharing "pre-pre-alpha" screenshots of WoD?

Then no one is normal when everyone is different.

They can share common features however, and Dev talks are a common thing now, when game is in production, and is financed from peoples money more directly. People want information what they will get and describing the process by devs is a must these days, these people do want information, because they pay for the game.

And fun fact is that CCP did prohibit filming the WOD trailer they showed at the fanfest.

Not sure how I missed the rest of this thread, but this right here shows you know little about of the World of Darkness series created by White Wolf Publishing. It was a pen and paper RP game well before any other iteration was even concieved.

Just going to copy-paste my comment on Reddit:

This is disappointing. Genuinely disappointing. After the video and tools we saw at Fanfest last years, this is a sad moment.

Hopefully it's only a temporary mothballing rather than a full-fledge binning of the dream. I still believe that CCP can make a WoD MMO happen, even if it's not going to happen yet.

In my opinion, focusing on only a single IP is a risky move: all the eggs are back in a single basket now, and I don't think that's sensible for a company that wants to grow. Even if the IP in question is a successful and growing one like EVE, things change, and diversity is a hedge against the unexpected.

It would be nice to get some feedback on WHY the project had to be shelved, though. Were the challenges technical, artistic, financial? And what can the community do to try and bring our vampires back from the dead?
