Carebears, me explain it this way:

CODE is a fascinating phenomenon not unlike many religious crusades and persecution streaks of the past.

They start an open war against an activity (afk mining w/o bots) that they simply don't like. There isn't anything prohibiting that activity, and by design, the game actually encourages it. And, because they don't like that other activity, they automatically feel superior to the others.

And then they decide to just subjugate everybody on the grounds of guilt by association. Because a small proportion of players (not accounts, but players) use botting/scripts, they decide to just burn everybody because again, they have convinced themselves they have the high ground.

Remind you of anything? (And no, I'm not making a third reich reference. Stop it.)

BUT LISTEN UP! THERE IS SOMETHING YOU CAN DO TO STOP THEM!

Deal with it.

I've been semi-afk mining for the past year (whenever I have work to do, eve goes up on the second monitor and the barge rolls out), and haven't been ganked by CODE once. Ever.

Find a quiet system. Tank your barge. Keep an eye on local. If the Order moves in, you move out.

If you can milk it, it's an udder.

The CODE people are making content. What kind of world wouldn't have zealots and gangsters and terrorists pretending to do things "for the greater good?

Me and a corp mate where in high sec running missions last week. he just came back to the game and was asking me "wtf is going on in local". So I told him I thought it was miner bumping and such, probably the CODE guys and even linked him a forum thread. He said he thought that was a crappy thing to do to people.

I told him yea it probably was, EVE is a game of people doing crappy things to each other lol, or did he think we were playing nice back in the day when we took Detorid, Insmother and several other regions away from the Russians (back when he and I were in a corp in Atlas). EVE is a place where conflict happens.

I have read your messages and have few point to make:

1. People are saying, Mining is pointless, I counter that and say, is ganking also pointless? I mean instead of grinding ore, you grind people of their living. You do the same thing over and over, grinding kill, for that I pity you.

2. They are saying I am hiding, let me as point out James314 is also hiding. He does not practice what he preaches. He hid in a corp that if wardec'd, he shut down the corp and make a new one. When is the last time, you have seen James314, putting his life on the line for his cause. Why does he need to, he is too busy count other people money.

3. I do not support or respect the code, it is just a bunch of words on a website. Some people follow them, if it was like is a bible, that in self is sad. It is not law, nor will it be, so move on.

4. They want to get mad, I say to that, do not give them that. We need to help understand that what they are doing is pointless and pity from us.

Thank you for reading this and Have a nice day,

3. Ranting is prohibited.

A rant is a post that is often filled with angry and counterproductive comments. A free exchange of ideas is essential to building a strong sense of community and is helpful in development of the game and community. Rants are disruptive, and incite flaming and trolling. Please post your thoughts in a concise and clear manner while avoiding going off on rambling tangents.

5. Trolling is prohibited.

Trolling is a defined as a post that is deliberately designed for the purpose of angering and insulting other players in an attempt to incite retaliation or an emotional response. Posts of this nature are disruptive, often abusive and do not contribute to the sense of community that CCP promote.

22. Post constructively.

Negative feedback can be very useful to further improve EVE Online provided that it is presented in a civil and factual manner. All users are encouraged to honestly express their feelings regarding EVE Online and how it can be improved. Posts that are non-constructive, insulting or in breach of the rules will be deleted regardless of how valid the ideas behind them may be. Users are also reminded that posting with a lack of content also constitutes non-constructive posting.

Unless it provokes constructive, civilized discussion, an "open letter" is much better suited for a blog or other format, not the Eve forums. Thread locked.
