Since this is going to be quite a large patch (assuming roughly the same sizes that SISI patches were), will there be a way to use the current SISI build as base for the new TQ build?

I am assuming that the current SISI build is pretty close to what the new TQ build - can save a lot of time if we can do it this way.

I am thinking along the lines of:
1. Make copy of SISI build.
2. Download new TQ client fixer thingy.
3. Run TQ client fixer thingy on copy of SISI build.

Good luck with that. I can't see that working.

The repairtool in the sisi client folder will repair to the TQ client if you run it directly and not via a shortcut with modifier, so you should in theory be able to make a copy of the SISI folder and use the repair tool...

Whatever settings you have on your main TQ client will be lost though, unless you copy that over manualy afterward.

Can't see why not - final SISI code usually be becomes TQ code, barring some debug code that's mabye stripped and build numbers encoded in the exe. There may also be some last-minute panick patches for issues discovered during TQ deploy. I can see the EXE changing, but the resource files should be pretty much the same (and by far the largest items).

At the very least, I'm gonna try and copy over the resource files sans the executable itself, and then run the client fixer.

Yes, just copy over everything from you SiSi folder but instead of running SiSi patcher, go into your newly copied over directory and run repair.exe. repair.exe is basically the SiSi patcher but is set for the live server build.

No, this may not work. It may well corrupt your installation completely and mean you need to download the entire game client. Be warned, others have tried with hilarious results for the tear harvesters amongst us.

CCP are still working on your bug reports. Some last minute changes may not make it to your SiSi install or even to ANY SiSi install (shock horror, how could this happen). SiSi version numbers will change when TQ is released.

The only way you should even consider doing something like this is if CCP come out and unequivocally tell you that just this one time you can try it.

I will of course backup the working TQ first before just trying this - the worst that can happen there is that I have to delete my settings and caches, and then use the regular patch.

Also, the repair tool has come a long way and the latest one may be more robust and thus not generate as many tears. Of course, it's entirely possible that the new one will generate even more tears and eat your boot.ini Smile

it's also a good way to get flagged for dodgy modifications on your client

Yes its possible, Yes it works. Yes its legal.

Don't listen to half the clueless lemmings on this thread. Just copy over your tq folder (backup before) then run the repair.exe tool. I do it with every exp.

It's not a dodgy modification. It's practically the same way you get the SISI client - just in reverse. The goal would be to end up with a perfect TQ client, not a modified client (using CCP's tools, to boot). Modifying the client for ulterior motives is not equal to using an alternative to patch from an unmodified test client to an unmodified TQ client.

The repair tool uses an algorithm to determine which binary blocks of each file are not in step with what it should be, and then downloads those blocks for you and replaces the "bad" blocks with the good ones.

Theoretically, at worst, it will end up downloading the whole TQ client if ALL the blocks are out of step. Of course, it's always a good idea to backup the currently working one. Just in case.

Technically this is possible and for people who know what they are doing you should have no real issues doing a move of files from a Sisi client to your TQ client. Doing any type of file transfer from Sisi is something you do at your own risk.

We would encourage all players to simply download by booting the client after downtime and following the on screen instructions Smile

I have 3 computers running eve.
Will there be possible to downloade patch... ?

Tore, as stated previously we only support the method of booting the client and patching as normal once Crucible has been deployed. You can probably copy one client on a USB and put it on to other machines once you have one client completely updated.

Thank you for the clarification, Navigator. This confirms my assumption that it is technically possible, though of course at own risk.

Having done this the TQ->SISI direction, knowing how to mitigate the risk with backups and having only a 1MBit line to work with, the benefit outweighs the (mitigated) risk for me.
