How much hauling involved with WH PI?

I'm planning on setting up 4 or 5 characters in a wormhole for PI. Considering they would all extract from 5 or 6 planets, the amount of materials would be grand. So how much hauling is there to be done? Even if all the materials would be in P2 or P3, I'm guessing it would still be overwhelming.

Please advise.

nope. it all fits in one epithal each week.

Really?

Even with 5 characters each with 6 planets?

In null,

I had two Characters with 6 planet each producing P1, which was transported to another character that had four factory planets. I produced 1152 P3 mats per day (6912 m3). +48K m3 per week.

P2 mats were 80K m3 per week before convention to P3.

I would suspect that with 5 character I could produce 130K -140K m3 of P2s per week in 0.0. While P3 would be around 80K m3 per week.

Just speculating.

Here are some calculations based on the factory limit processing for a character with command center upgrades 5.

1 extractor, 2 launchpad, 12 basic industry: (a P1 planet)
production per basic per hour : 15.2 m3, 15 * 12 = 182.4 m3 per hour
2 launchpads, so 20,000 m3 limit. 20,000/182.4 =~ 110 hrs or 4.58 days

2 extractors, 2 launchpad, 5 basic industry, 5 advanced industry (a P2 planet)
production per advanced per hour: 7.5 m3, 5*7.5 = 37.5 m3 per hour
2 launchpads, so 20,000 m3 limit. 20,000/37.5 =~ 533 hrs or 22.2 days

This is a theoretical minimum in terms of having to transfer launchpad volume to the customs house. It's not a practical limit because you would waste material when the launchpads started to get full. It also assumes that those limits can be reached from the number of extractor heads involved. I don't have experience extracting in WH space so I don't know if that amount is what you'll actually get out of an extractor.

The point is, you have a baseline with numbers now. If doing P2, the volume/day would look like:

numchars * numplanets * vol/hr * hrsinday
5 * 6 * 37.5 * 24 = 27,000 m3 per day from 30 planets. Again, this is the maximum possible output with command upgrades 5.

Whether that is overwhelming is up to you.

If you are hauling out P1, it can be daunting: I was moving a Charon out of a C5 every month, with only two characters doing extraction.

If you process to more advanced materials, that will significantly reduce the volume.

Choose an "end product" that makes the best possible use of your PI extractions -- THEN worry about how much hauling you need.

Sure, you might end up shunting materials between planets in order to achieve that "end product" but there will always be some hauling involved. Always.

Similarly, if excessive hauling isn't what you signed up for then you can always skip the actual "interaction" part of farming planets and just buy the finished materials ( at a major hub ) and produce Fuel Blocks or Structures or whatever it is you want, providing of course there is actually a profit margin involved.

Enjoy.

I dont do it on top efficiency because i try to invest as little time as possible. My results are usually 1-2 epithals a week per two accounts (6 chars 5 planets each). I spend more time scanning chain than hauling.
