Guess this idea is a goner then.
I'd like to use the rokh as Ive said before, but even as a sniper boat its not my weapon of choice. I'll keep an eye on it, for changes that make it more applicable to my style.

Thanks for the input.

you'd need to look at amarr then or specific domi fits. Worth noting neither of these options are missile based either. Amarr turret/crystal combos will get you turret sniping. Tweaking of sentry range (bouncer II) gets you drone sniping.

Beside that....raven if you want missile sniping says hi.

All I can say is don't focus on the top page of eft. Give rokh a go with plutomium/uranium and mix mjd in. 100+kms optimal easy this way. Its not earth shattering dps but its not too bad over other turrets who are well into falloff x-over points that bleed off their damage (if they are even in falloff).

For pve I run this way to blap the crap out of frigs and cruisers. Many die fast and easy. Then I swtich to AM, get to optimal and kill BS'.

PVP wise its lack of tank mention seems to be pilot error. First you have a very nice 4% per level resist. Second you have range. When FC says BS's warp to Player X....you warp to player x + 10,20,30 kms. Pick based on ammo you like/are running and jsut try to stay under a range you can be on grid warped to your only rules here.

Most times fc is calling this warp in based on pest/mael/apoc/mega ranges. As unless a rokh heavy fleet this will be his average range he works with. YOu adding range has you out from them.

How this works out for you is the enemy most times will shift to have all those shorter ranged boats in range. You being out of optimal (and hopefully deep in falloff) of reds will mean if/when fire walks its way to you take less damage. You then get to make the call to stay and ride out the storm or warp off. many a time primary calls wiping my fleet mates saw me taking much less damage for the gtfo, take a breather, and warp back in for round 2,3,4, etc.

Basically you aren't a 1600mm plated ehp monster...don't fly your boat like you are one the tl;dr.

I'm using a rokh right now, and the only way I can get any dps out of it is by using those 4 missile launcher hardpoints. I don't mind keeping the ship's bonuses for hybrid turrets, or even keeping the 8 turret hardpoints, but please add 2 more missile hardpoints as well. It will make the ship more versatile, and I think with out breaking it.

I do hear what you're saying. It wouldn't necessarily be a bad thing to have more options for even unbonused weapon systems. I can see the appeal of more missile launchers on the Rokh: to get the shield resistance bonus you have to move into something more expensive like a Rattlesnake or Navy Scorpion. There are alternatives, though - depending on how far outside the box you're willing to think…

I personally find missile "sniping" boring as sin. Gate in, MJD out, orbit @ 100km and shoot. It's probably about as far removed from PvP combat as you're going to get and ingrains a lot of bad habits.

The goal CCP had is to make two weapon choice lines for each race, Gallente have Drone or Hybrids, Minmattar have projectiles and missiles, Caldari have missiles / hybrids, and Amarr have lasers, drones/nuets.

Giving every ship a specific role ensured each ship would be used. If every ship had 8 hard points for each weapon system it would bland out ths ship lines.

For the OP - If you want to cross train - try a Typhoon. It's another great missile BS. If you are looking for more in the caldari line-up the command ships, HACs, and T3 (tengu) all offer some excellent missile (and hybrid) options with better applied DPS on smaller targets.

I feel your pain; though I don't share the need to change the Rokh.

Rumour has it it's getting a redesign… If it ends up looking halfway decent, I may switch...
