Shalom o7

The Reputation Cartel's match is due to start 19:20, which interfere with Shomer Shabbos. Shomer Shabbos prohibits certain activities including, but not limited to, turning on electric devices and demolition.

Participating in the NEO would violate at least one, if not more, of the rules of Shabbat, and it'd therefore be impossible to play in the NEO's Saturday-matches.

Would it be possible to move our match from Saturday to Sunday?

The principle of weekly Sabbath also exists in other beliefs, and not just in Judaism: compare the Babylonian calendar, the Buddhist uposatha, the Islamic jumu'ah and the Unification Church Ahn Shi Il.

Would it not be discriminating to arrange matches on a saturday, if a lot of religious people cannot participate?

if not;
In the event that a human life is in danger, a Jew is not only allowed, but required,to violate any Shabbat law that stands in the way of saving that person. This means that if someone would threaten to kill oneself, if we do not fly in the saturday matches, the rules could be violated.

I'm a proud member of the Pastafari church. Our belief doens't allow us any tournament-kind activities on other days than saturdays, which we call "Match-labahad". Because of your huge Pastafarian fanbase, I strongly insist on keeping the tournament on a saturday!

In New Eden, there's no such thing as Judaism, Christianity or Islam. Those were the religions of the old terrans. Since the Eve Gate closed, New Eden only knows one religion: The Amarrian. And the Pax Amarria explicitly allows Tournaments on Saturday!

By entering the Tournament™, you have signed your life off to the trio of Loxy, Bro, and Gargant, benevolently assisted and guided by the thaumaturgical twosome of Fozzie and Veritas. Didn't you read the fine print?

In more practical terms, it is unfortunate if some of your members will be unable to make pretty explosions and win, but the show must go on. If you are unable to fill your team for your first match, I suggest that you bust out your fewer pilot ultra-murder tactics. Forfeiting your first match and going hardcore mode through the entire Elimination bracket is your third option.

Good luck and have fun!

Tournaments are held on weekends to maximize the availability of pilots and CCP staff. The dates of the tournament were provided in the devblogs and other material available to us when you signed up - if this was going to be a problem you should have bowed out then rather than make a fuss about it in the last week before the tournament when absolutely no sympathy was going to be given.

Plus, if they rescheduled off of Saturdays for Jews, surely they'd have to reschedule off of Sundays too for Christians and any other faith that had their sabbath on Sundays. I mean, they've got mass or whatever to go to too, you know.

You're an adult. You can make your own decisions of whether you choose to make an exception to your routine for three weekends or not - but please don't screw the rest of us over just because you couldn't plan that far ahead when all the dates were announced months in advance. It's your responsibility to keep track of how your religious beliefs interact with your schedule, not anyone else's.

And before anyone starts going "omg so intolerant", I'm Jewish myself. I just don't give two fedo-turds about anachronistic traditions like that and choose not to follow them.

Goat Patrol supports the plight of those 0.2% of the world observing these rituals and not killing and eating our beloved goats.

We are selflessly prepared to offer ourselves in the place of these unfortunate souls who, through no preparation fault of their own, find themselves in this crisis of faith.

All we can do is be compassionate and help those in great need.

Although CCP frowns on account sharing I feel conflict as a member of the chosen people. Would it be acceptable if I hire a gentile, also known as a Shabbos Goy to do my bidding in the name of G-d should I be required in a match on a day that falls on the Shabbat?
