Hello all,

I want to make a series of videos on youtube for my channel about Eve Online. I want to start with the basic stuff on how to play, how the interface works, where specific buttons are, how to complete the tutorials maybe.. Stuff like this.

I would need your help, especially if you are new to this! Tell me what problems you have encountered in your first couple of days. What concepts didn't you understand best and would like to be expanded on ?

As a small disclaimer I will most likely make the videos in Romanian, but I will might do it in English as well. (Same video, 2 audio tracks.)

The things that I want to cover in my first video are:

  • Interface - what does it do?
  • How to fly your ship?
  • Missions - how to do them?
  • Skills - how do they work ?
  • The Professions of eve - what do you want to do?

This is just a rough list, I would love to know your opinions and a bit more specific things (like what would you want to know about the interface, what didn't you really understand?)

Regards,
Hachi.

I am not trying to pooh pooh your idea, but does not the in-game tutorial already do precisely this? All the way through introducing the various professions?

Maybe, but I do know a lot of my friends struggled with the tutorials/ in the beginning...so this is a way to help them / other people in the future. I haven't done the tutorials myself in quite a while... So I don't really know how much it changed. Any feedback will be appreciated!

You should really make a new character and go through the tutorial and career agent arc, because it is completely night and day compared to what I had to endure in 2005, and is a great improvement from even a few years ago. When I started I was given a rookie ship, shown the buttons on the neocom, told to shoot a rat in a deadspace, and then set free on the galaxy! Nowadays it is much more thorough in explaining what everything does so newbies have a much easier time of getting a hold of the basics.

I will do that, but while making the tutorials I wanted to record/ give hints as well. That's why I was looking for some advice on what harder to grasp concepts /functions I should focus on at the start.

Well hopefully you can get some real new people to come in and voice their opinion, as my status as a 'bittervet' skews my view a little XD

I wish you the best in your project, good luck!

Video - 0
show the guy that lost a shuttle with 2 million plexes and explain that once you undock you forefit your ship, clone and implants and do not undock unless you can replace everything you got.

also include the important tip - > never AFK, Never autopilot,

will save a lot of tears from new players.

Are your videos going to be better than the dozens already made on this subject?

My favourite for example is this:

This is the first episode.

You might read through the NPTS files or the E-Uni files

Cool video, thanks! I will take some notes from that one. I am certain that there are no Eve Online tutorials in Romanian so no overlapping there. I might reconsider then making them in English as well. As for quality... I'll try my best.

I'll start with stating I'm a big fan of helping n00bs get into things and learn to enjoy all aspects of EVE

But.....

Dudes not finishing the tutorials or struggling with them... really?

It's not really only about the tutorials. Eve is a big place and I have to start somewhere...

Not another set of tutorial videos on EVE.

As most of them fail anyway because NO player that has played EVE for years can make a tutorial and fully explain stuff.
We do know stuff and thus do certain things without thinking and taking it as common knowledge that you know why.

Disappointing they couldn't lower down that music in the background. It takes over to the point where I don't bother listening to what the guy is saying. It's a common mistake in tutorials but it's disappointing that EVE University couldn't do it better.
