But it would destroy the "risk vs reward" part of eve.

How so?

Would the hostile jump on you slower?

Would you see the cloaked tackler that is waiting for you to get stuck in asteroids?

IFF system would be nice. We have it now, actually we had it already in 1940s, but now in the 28937273 or something, we don't? Shocked

I quite like that idea. Although too many people will whine about it.

You could maybe make it have different effect radius' in High/Low/Null Sec though? Most effective in High Sec using CONCORD's network as an assist, less effective in null sec where you are relying on Local/Alliance Intel.

Maybe a penalty based on ship size, in reverse order? So larger ships have more time to prep to GTFO, small ships a much smaller range as they are smaller, more agile? In null sec this would have minimal effects and therefore would help High Sec/Newbs most.

Personally, I prefer the insta-align for Exhumers, allowing them to align and warp instantly to a safe or station. They should NEVER be bothered with such silliness as "risk" in an intarwebz spaceships game. It's just gauche, really.

I also really like the idea of having miner-only areas of deadpspace loaded with the ABCs that can ONLY be scanned down by a special scanner and probes that ONLY fit on Exhumers and Barges, don't take any cpu/power, and allow for the same resistance across the board as an active DCU II. It's only fair, really.

Miners have just been picked on for far too long. They need the same rewards available to them as the blue-space nullies doing their guaranteed isk fountain anoms.

I assume everyone is aready using dscan anyway (every 5 seconds), and most of the time its gonna be friendlies. This module would be annoying as **** and also useless and ALSO gimp your ship because its a MODULE.

What's more annoying, getting warnings that turn out to be friendlies with a passive warning receiver or getting warnings that turn out to be friendlies by having to use d-scan every few seconds?

The former actually. I don't need to hit dscan when there aren't any hostiles in local.

Also, my problem isn't with the idea of having a passive warning system. My problem is that its pointless given the current mechanics of d-scan and local. My other issue is such functionality is unlikely to be given out through a module. More likely it would be given for all ships, but with its performance enhanced through modules.

Any changes need to be a comprehensive overhaul of d-scan, local, and ideally integrating with the scanner overlay.

Um, OK, if there's no one there then the PWR would not fire. It's passive, just listening.

As for being a module or not, fine, make it part of the standard ship fit.

Would really like to hotkey the Dscanning button if anything. I'm still paying attention and I'm still playing eve. But when in WH space, it can be kinda annoying the every 20-30 sec dscanning. MADDENING I SAY. And even then you'll often miss cloakies that come into your system.

D-scan threat alert would break wormhole space badly. And make it harder to hunt everywhere. Not sure that's a good thing.

In fact, I'm pretty sure it's a bad thing.

That depends on which side of the fence you are on, I suppose.

As I said in my original post, there's too many vested interests and a very conservative mind-set amongst a lot of players in EVE.
