Hi all,

I know this was just someone trolling me space side however someone accused me of looking like a vapid blow-up doll.

Not exactly the look I was going for. Any ladies or lads have any advice. I am not looing for complements merely whether you think his statement had any validity.

I love the role-play aspect of this and if my look wont garner any respect from other players it may make life difficult. Making it hard to play how I want and with the goals in mind.

How we look may seem unimportant but lets remember that in a world of role play our image helps in how we act, interact, and react.

The hair ,skin and eyebrow color are nonnegotiable, they are part of the Remillard family line.

Thanks all

If changing color of hair, skin and eyebrow is out of the question I would suggest growing thicker skin :)

change the creepy blue lighting, also change the emotionless stare. a cndescending smirk is never wrong in this cold harsh universe of ours.

I should buy an Ishtar.

If those 3 things are out, and I really would suggest a slightly darker shade for the hair... then at least go with a darker gray or brown for the lips.

Side note -- the character creator detail is remarkable. Play with it some more. My character pic looks exactly like me in real life. Freaky.

Lol

It could be worse, you could look like Mildew Wolf or Alotta Baggage.

Change the white lipstick and eye goop for something a little more in keeping with the skin tone. If in doubt, or a man, ask a woman for advice, like I just did so that my post was actually helpful Lol

In the beginning there was nothing, which exploded.

Thanks guys very very helpful advice. I will try everyone's advice and we'll see how I look tomorrow.

The creepy blue light is from the wash cycle of my space-washing machine, I'll get a picture taken when its off.

Much appreciated,

Illusio.

The range of facial expressions you can pull off with the character creator is quite impressive, I went for the condescending smirk look myself.

Personally I kinda like your avatar, you look unusual, but I like unusual. If you were an inflatable doll, you'd be in the alternative section of the sex shop.

Awkward...

It's only the lips that look fake.

It is exactly the obvious hair and eyebrow dye job on a black / hispanic person that makes you look so fake. You aren't going to get a natural look because black / hispanic people do not tend to have naturally bright white hitler youth looking hair / brows.

^ wow you can't say the name of the war monger with the funny little square lip cozy.

Just want to highlight this.

In the "photo booth", you can move most of the muscles that you could move in real life, you just have to find out where in your face to click. (Something I struggle with that every time.) Going for a more natural pose might work wonders.

Hi All,

Well I put the advice to good use and I feel far less plastic and vapid looking.

Thank you all!

Much better. I think it was the lip coloring that was really strange before.

Nice. Though I notice you now have the caldari emblem behind you, unless you're role playing a traitor to the Federation, you may want to change that.

Haters gonna hate, girlfriend! Cool

Just do your thing and when they all up in yo face just troll those motherfuckers right back. Pirate

But on a more serious note .... my thoughts for you.

You mention garnering respect - did you mean in the general EVE community or in the RP community? If that's the latter then that random spacer who was critical of your avatar shouldn't mean squat. There are some very strong RP'ers in EVE's community and many of those have some of the blandest, or downright ugliest avatars you'll see and they still get plenty of respect.

My experience is that people who base their RP strongly off their knowledge of EVE lore and politics tend to become successful and garner the most respect over time from the RP community here. The problem there though is often people's characters seem to be little more than a collection of political opinions. For me personally that's been somewhat difficult as .. well, I've always had little interest in EVE's lore beyond the generics and I find politics boring, so I enjoy playing a character who's merits come from her personality and lifestyle rather than her (or rather my) knowledge of lore of politics and her associated opinions about it all. So for me the avatar plays an important role in projecting that character. While for many others avatars can be almost inconsequential.

In other words the importance your avatar has on your individual RP, and the respect you garner from others, is really up to you. Smile

Now if you're not a roleplayer and are not looking to forge into EVE's actual RP community then I wouldn't fuss much about your avatar having any impact on said respect. It's just a novelty sat next to the spaceship game for most EVE players, and they look strangely at RP.

Anyway, I decided to post mostly because I can totally empathize with your feelings in that whenever I receive critique regarding my character's avatars it always plays on my mind to the point of spending hours in the character creator trying to improve. Big smile You'll have the same experience no doubt, and your avatar will be a never-ending work in progress that just gets better and better over time. Enjoy!
