Hello everyone,

As a new player, I am blown away by the amount of information available but cant seem to find an answer to my question, so here it is:

To what level is it worth training in skills to meet a specific certificate for a particular ship?

e.g. apart from individual pilot tactics, will a pilot flying a Rifter with a higher average level of certificates expect outperform a Thrasher with a lower average level of certificates?

I am trying to determine whether I stick with the Rifter and train higher of move to a Thrasher earlier and grind away...

Sure there is probably no perfect answer, but I am interested in what others may have done or are currently doing.

Rulid :)

Mastery (Certificates are something different and not really used anymore) are just guidelines on what could be good skills to train.

It is no fixed...I have higher Mastery so I'm better system.

A Mastery I rifter pilot can kill a Mastery V Raven...if he knows what he is doing.
A Mastery V Rifter pilot can be killed by a Mastery I Thrasher...if the thrasher pilot knows what he is doing.

In EVE, the MAIN factor that decides if you win or lose a fight in PvP...is player skill and knowledge about the game.

Not the ship you are in.
Not the fits you use.
Not the amount of skillpoints you have in it.

But the knowledge about how to fight. How to take advantage of your strengths and exploit the weaknesses of your enemy. And knowing when the tables are turned and you should get out quickly.

Right now, I'm at mastery level 2 on everything but shuttles, because I'm missing some "recently" added skills which CCP has deemed essential. I have over 110 million SP.

The levels are a guideline only for those with no idea what to train.

help with skill development
So many skills, im so confused
Newb question about skills
Should i be training Level V skills?

Some of the best pilots I know are mission mastery 1 for rookie ships.

Well... some fights are decided in the fitting screen. Or, a combination of the fit and the judgement on which fight to pick, more accurately - like not picking a fight with a blaster ship when you probably can't control range, like I did the other night.

Which was, of course, my fault.

Thus the fight is not won or lost on your fit. But on the knowledge about its strengths and weaknesses and knowing when to GTFO or when to fight.

If a certain fit would win...everybody and their dogs would fit like that.

You win fights because of knowledge and making a fit that works in the settings you want.
