I've only caused one person to get so mad they outright quit the game. I killed some new dude flying around lowsec in a cruiser (I just saw a cruiser, didn't specifically know it belonged to a rather new player). He messaged me and yelled at me in all caps for fifteen or so minutes, spewing some very nasty words. He was so mad, I think he was legitimately crying from anger -- Had to have been.

When it was all over, I added him to my watchlist and have never seen him log in again.

EDIT: It happens. Some people just get too invested in their ship/sense of security or whatever.

best i did was when our lowsec station / system was under "assault" from an alliance, fighting outnumbered for +- two month at that time, resulting in us going guerilla style.

they recruted a "new" guy, and sent him in the warzone.

he landed at station with cruiser *blap* said the nados.

docked, undocked, *hello and goodbye* said the vigilant, pod following.

after a quick talk in local, explained him the situation, linked the KB, left his "new" alliance in a matter of minutes.

he was mad (like writting things one should never read in local mad) at them for sending him there, without warning but "don't worry, they won't do ****, we are always 20vs2 in local" (wich was true, at least the 20vs2)......
we gave him a free pass to get out, while he undocked, we ganked his recruiter with much violence (1b loki), he left with a smile.

recruiter then disconnected, and it seems he has never logged back since (that happened a year ago +-)
well, we spend the whole three month they stayed there skirmishing them, killing 1-2 right before their nose and vanishing before they landed on grid Blink, often outnumbered...thoses guys were truly terribad at eve.

When making claims of epic rage tears, it is incumbent upon the claimant to post logs, or links to logs.

Our corp has this guy also new to the game, his account lapsed so he made another trial account so I think hes planning on paying again to continue. Anyways hes been derping out in a rifter killing poor thrashers that lose their way, and he decided to link one to me where the guy raged at him for it. But he was in lowsec in a belt..

He said bad words to our newbie and said hes quitting the game. I check the guy and he hasn't even played two weeks. Is this a good thing? or a bad thing? As much as I would like to link it this is all I can give.

Our guy > gf
Other newbie > **** you
Our guy > Hahaha
Other newbie > i was firing at a **** asteroid half the time
Other newbie > ******
Our guy > LOLOLOLOL, in thrasher?
Other newbie > **** this game
Other newbie > i quit
Our guy > LMFAO

Yeah hes kind of a jerk :P
I would just think it's better if we had more players. Don't you?

The CSM Time Machine springs into action!

OK I made it so that CCP put in a warning whenever you jump out of hi-sec, and you can't jump without clicking "accept".

That should solve the problem once and for all!

Everyone's tear palate is different, and I'm sure you've encountered some in your time you've found particularly delicious. For a lot of people, the most delicious tears are when they come from someone who gets what they deserved. Nothing wrong with enjoying that.

Suppose I should clarify that there's nothing wrong with getting some amusement out of someone taking a game too seriously and raging. It's humorous. What I think is pathetic is the whole 'delicious tears' attitude rampant in EVE. It's just so ridiculous.

But to each his own. As for the guy mentioning logs. I'm very sad to say I believe I lost them when I wiped my hard drive. May have a backup somewhere though. Would be a shame to have lost that log.

I'll admit, I raged the first time I got non-consensual killed. I asked the guy whether his mother had given him enough affection as a child. That didn't bother him much. Then I said he'd be hearing from my (nonexistent) Russian merc friends. That seemed to take a little of the gloat out of him, made him a little nervous. It was a low point in my noob career, but still somewhat enjoyable.

The first timeI died I was unfortunately not educated by my killer. I still see him pop up on my Watchlist from time to time. It's been three years... the dish must be cold by now. Lol

Subsequent fights saw me wisen up through trial and error, the hard way, but because I enjoy chatting I was naturally inclined to ask for advice. I actually enjoyed rummaging through all these ships and fits and options left and right.

You just can't account for people going mad when you kill them. OK, you could hang out in NBSI nullsec where people simply have to cope with danger and you stand less of a chance of hitting that one guy that goes nuts when killed. I find neither their reaction or the act of "farming tears" very tastefull, but I admit I do enjoy the lamentations of real enemies to some extend.

Ship death in lowsec is fairly common, nobody walks into Eve without any prior knowledge about it's brutality. People going mental are really the exception, I usually get a GF, sad_trombone.wav or other form of lukewarm acknowledgement ship pew just happened.

It's a good thing. There is no downside to someone finding out early on that they aren't ready for this game.

That is one less future carebear whiner asking for nerfs to aggression and trying to get CCP to put barriers into player interaction. That's a positive outcome and your newbie has done New Eden a service.

Aye but there is no certain path. It's also one less carebear whiner who gets recruited by a nullsec alliance getting sold on carebearing opportunities safely past the gank pipelines and intel channels. They too will whine whenever CCP tries new content to increase nullsec conflict potential or take some of the easy mode aspects out of nullsec that have gone on too long.

We'll never know. But in the end, that kind of aspietard as the noob encountered is probably of no use to any playstyle and this game as a whole. People who just don't listen and go into tantrums like that are more trouble than they are worth.

The first time I got killt in lowsec was when I brought two noobs with me. They were on the verge of a ragequit after being ganked in the same system. So I told them "that's not the right spirit for this game" and talked them into getting in cruisers and joining me to attack the very people who ganked them.

We didn't win but a good time was had by all. One of the noobs even started communicating with one of the "pirates" and got ISK along with some advice on PVP and went into PVP playing styles after that.

You seem to make a point of attacking new players. Is this because you can't win against competent players who have had time to learn the game?

No, it is because my penis is small and doesn't work.

I make a point of shooting whoever I please because I subscribed to a game where everybody can get exploded everywhere. Maybe your ad was about being babysitter, the one I saw advertised cold harsh universe where you can be whoever you want.

Please feel free to drop into Adirain to show me how much of a failure I am. Until then all you can really do is question my competence here which proves exactly nothing. Or you can send your main in big alliance that will crush me which I am sure you have just as all those brave enough to send me "f**k you" evemails.

I think that the "harshness" of Eve has gotten to some of the posters in this thread. All the "good, he quit, better he did it now than later" comments are incredibly ignorant and short sighted. A sub is a sub, regardless of who pays it. My money smells the same as the next guys.

Given as how Tranq has AT BEST 50k "active" players, you better bet your sweet little ass this place needs moar subs (when factoring in how big the game world is, how much is hi sec etc etc). Of course, in order to better attract new subs, CCP would have to actually do something to attract them in the first place.

Whether they stay after that, sadly, is mostly up to them AND also to us, if you don't like/can't accept this fact, then tough.

In fact, if experienced players continue shrugging off whatever new players moan or rage about, then it is inevitable that this community will get bitterer and smaller and wont that be just GREAT for this game.

I personally find it funny how we as players seem to care so much about CCPs revenue.

I don't personally, because I neither have the full facts about their revenue, nor do I have responsibility for it. That's CCPs job.

I do however hope that no-one who plays the game wastes a whole lot of their own money in order to find out at some point that they really can't enjoy it. That I think is a bit of a pity.

So if someone finds that out early, then more power to them and I wish them all the best for whatever game they go on to play and hope that at some point in the future they might be ready to come back and offer content I can consume.

But why should I care more that CCP gets someones money, rather than that person being able to enjoy the use of their time in the way they would like? I don't quite get that (but that's my limitation) as wasting money is kind of pointless for everyone.

As the quote goes "Some people you just can't reach". So I wonder if the ragequitting noob was reachable or not, or even later?

We all know that the NPE is lacking in a few things, though much improved than when I started in 2006. But we also know that a lot of players depend heavily on other players simply not knowing all the facts and they resist measures to improve the NPE.

So the question is, would it matter at all with some of these worst-case noobs who, no matter how much they are warned, will still go ballistic when they get shipraeped?

There are divided camps on that. There are a lot of "quick gratification" types who will gleefully X out every dialog box or click OK just to get rid of it without reading it because it's getting in the way of... well their gratification or something. I don't know why people charge in so mindlessly in a game it's like they want to min-max from moment-1 and get to the farming in an instant. I get the sense that players like this are not playing a game at all, hence the rage over a "game".

So who knows if a service was done or not. I have been in RL situations where some people who "should not have been retained" were retained or taken on as clients and down the road they made my life difficult when they should have been told on day one "this is not for you". Imagine someone being "gank free" until their first fleet and then the fleet gets ROFLstomped. Now you have the tantrum instead of on day one, and now you have someone who will not only ragequit, but maybe even in the process of that cause an FC to give up being an FC and just go back to running missions in highsec to "escape all the drama".

Just to clarify, I don't care about how much money CCP make, I'd rather see a busier server in general but especially in lo/nu-sec.
