HI All first time poster so be gentle,

I have noticed the male avatars can look quite rugged, whereas the female avatars seem to have the eternal spring of youth permanently attached, sexism perhaps?

I was hoping to be able to create an aged persona however hitting the age button only seemed to had the merest hint of lines around the eyes, in addition my characters hair is supposed to be white but it turned out blonde.

OF course these may seem small details but I love the idea of role play and disappointed I can't play the rookie granny/grandmotherly figure trying to make ends meet becasue the pension isn't paying too well. Oh and hopefully using her image to her advantage in a flight or fight situation.

Any plans on the cards for a more radical image change?

Clone age essentially stops at the time you become an egger, because you can always jump to a younger clone and start ageing again.

I see your point here,

I was just thinking being able to be old would be fun. The males seem to be able to get to middle aged in their looks I couldn't get past 29 using the aging button.

OH well perhaps I can play the annoying younger sister instead of the overly fussy granny then.

Thanks for your reply!

^This, exactly.

Female clones are actually considered a "luxury" according to Dust 514 lore, originally all soldiers were placed into male clones just because all clones were that exactly: identical clones.

The idea of EVE however is that you play an affluent and powerful immortal, forever blessed to exist in the universe as determined by 1980s dystopic futurism. For that reason all avatars look like they walked out of Blade Runner or Demolition Man, with rugged hyper-masculine men and perfect plastic females, and that's part of what adds to the game's flavor.

Social justice doesn't exactly fit into the hypercapatilism of the Eve universe.
To paraphrase Ayn Rand on the matter, "It's okay to be a douchebag".

Thank you Lillianna,

Well explained! I think you hit the nail on the head there. So we're luxury items huh?

I created my avatar and was a little disappointed at how plastic I looked ( a great choice of words on your part). With the history you imparted in mind, I understand the reasoning now and I guess I have nothing more to do than accept it and perhaps hope I find and anomaly in space that rapidly ages me!

Literally. Plastic.

https://wiki.eveonline.com/en/wiki/Cloning#Clone_manufacturing:

Plastic bones and features are stuck onto the reanimated bodies of dead humans or molded onto animal meat soup.
The wiki has a great deal of lore on the subject if you wish to read more.

Try an Amarr character. They typically look the oldest. I've seen some very old looking female Amarrians.

It is actually fairly hard to make the Amarrian men look young.

I blame the women.

For the gray hair (at least for Vherikor) try choosing the option that looks more "bluish".For me the option is between brown and light brown.
I know it makes little sense and the light colors should be the gray, but like with you the colors that i thought was supposed to be gray were actually blonde Smile

Thank you all for the replies, really helpful and informative. I read some off site forums that people could be harsh on here.

I know I know it was not a very important topic and on the surface rather superficial but I like the role play aspect and being in character helps that. I guess for now my character looks how she does and she is stuck that way, kind of like being born that way!

Thank you again and if you ever see me flailing about in 0.0 space say hi before you shoot!

This is true of pretty much the rest of the forums. In the new citizens section trolling is not allowed, so in general people are more pleasant and helpful.

Amarr is the best choice. And not just for age reasons.

I think ISD LackofFaith will disagree with that.

This section of the forums tends to be pretty nice and have less trolls. Head over to GD and suddenly its a lot different Lol

For your character. You can change it as many times as you want but there are some "rules".

Things like hair, makeup, clothing and portrait can be changed whenever you want as many times as you want. This is completely free, but note you can not change bone structure or similar with this.

If you want to make a complete change (which means changing the bone structure and similar) you can do so by buying PLEX's and then trade them for a full re-customization. A PLEX can be bought for either 19$ or in-game ISK.

So basically:

Anything you can change in RL for free (or just at home by buying normal items from your local stores)...it's free in EVE.

Anything you have to get plastic surgery for in RL...you also have to pay for in EVE.

I want a character design option to set the size of my trouser bulge to better portray the enormity of my cahones!

Would you not have to have some proof you deserved that, errr, enhancement?
