EVE Online: Rubicon 1.2 has been successfully deployed on February 18, 2014.

This release introduces large changes in the server backend and how static universe data is stored. That data is now stored in a more version control friendly way which will allow for faster and easier deployments in the future. Additionally we have fixed an issue with the Character selection screen on Macs.

For full details please check the patch notes.

General feedback about EVE Online: Rubicon 1.2 can be posted in the general feedback thread here.

Please use this format for reporting any issues in this thread:

  • Description of problem, the more verbal the better
  • Hardware info (Mac model, GPU, CPU, RAM etc.)
  • OS version
  • Step by step guide to what causes the issue
  • Step by step guide to any workaround that has resolved the issue for you

Still having issues with the game randomly not responding on my Mac. Everything seems to be working fine but as soon as I try to do just about anything it just sits there. This includes trying to dock, reloading, checking any information (market, contracts, skill queue, station services, etc). To be completely honest it makes the game nearly unplayable. I'm too afraid to go out and rat because I may randomly not respond and end up relogging in my pod. I've sat there and mined for countless minutes only to realize I stopped responding and collected no ore. Same with gathering loot from missions, it appears to be in my cargo hold but I re log back in and I'm in the middle of a warp to the mission site where nothing has been killed. Hope this issue gets fixed soon. I've just returned to Eve about a month ago and this issue really turns me off to renewing my subscription again. I'm not willing to pay to play a game that is nearly unplayable right now.

Step by step guide to what causes this issue could contain of anything. I heard of people saying it happens when you open the "fitting screen" but I've had it happen out of the blue while doing just about anything. I can't give you a definite way to replicate this problem.

I have yet to find any work around, if I had I would not be posting this.

I have this issue as well. I think it happens more frequently with multiple clients open, however I am not 100% positive the two are correlated.

Try turning off Eve voice (in the esc menu), and also turn off any other app running on your mac that uses the internet, especially torrents.

I've new to the Eve universe (just a few days now) and I've seen many freezes on the old build and two freezes on the new 1.2 build. The freeze has mainly occurred while in dock, but I've seen it outside of dock as well. When the freeze happens in dock, its usually while nothing is happening... I'll step away from my computer (30min to a few hours) and the client is frozen and the background music sounds like a broken CD, just playing 1 sec of audio over and over. The UI is totally unresponsive and I cannot quit the app - I have to open activity monitor and force kill it.

The issue Teglon describes is a longstanding one that has plagued many Mac users. What's even worse, it is only the UI that freezes; the rest of the client chugs along -- so you don't disconnect and remain in space.

Also, the bizarre rapid flashing graphic garbage issue (often comes up on the character selection page) is still present in 1.2

When I try to log in to a system that is full using the new patch, I no longer get the dialog for moving my character into a nearby system, thus I can't log in on that character until an off-peak time.

OK, I wondered about that. It happened to me too. Tried to log into Jita, it would not let me, nor give me the "Tow your ship" option. I relogged and it let me in, at least this time.

Edit: This is apparently not a Mac problem. Everyone trying to get into Jita when its full has it.

CCP Habakuk wrote:
The problem with logging into Jita is currently being investigated.

Workaround (not a good one): Restart your client after each attempt to log into Jita. You will be able to succeed, if the population in Jita is below the cap.

I think we have all been patient so far but after multiple patches i hope the DEVs start to go into crisis mode. I think we have all earned the right to a little more than frustrated. i WANT to play but i can't and i hate paying for something that I'm not getting. DEVs please make this a top priority! i don't want to leave EVE but if i can't play it what do you expect me to do, play WoW*vomit sounds*?

I request a free plex for Mac users who have not been able to log and make isk over the past month or so.

Internet space ships is serious business and so is my inability log in!

Thanks for looking into this.

Confirming this issue after Rubicon 1.2 update for me as well.

I can now see the character selection screen - which is a bit of an improvement. But I still can't actually log in as there is no dialogue to select alternative systems.

Eve continues to be plagued with Open GL exception errors for me on a Mac.
I posted about this before here.
The issues arose about 3 days before that post when one of the Rubicon issues was released.. 1.1.1?
I have narrowed this down to be pertaining to Gallente Industrial stations.
I have had the issue when docking at:
Dodixie IX - Moon 20 - Federation Navy Assembly Plant (coming from Vylade gate)
Stacmon V - Moon 9 - Federation Navy Assembly Plant
The exceptions abound when you get less than 1 AU from station.
19/02/2014 12:14:00.000 pm kernel[0]: NVDA(OpenGL): Channel exception! exception type = 0x6 = Fifo: Parse Error
19/02/2014 12:14:00.000 pm kernel[0]: IOVendorGLContext::ReportGPURestart
19/02/2014 12:14:00.000 pm kernel[0]: NVDA(OpenGL): Channel exception! exception type = 0xd = GR: SW Notify Error (many)
This results in flickering screen for session, and often complete system lock ups. CMD-ALT-ESC menu to force quit won't even work... so you often have to hard quit - by holding down power button...
Devs/GM's can read more about this in a petition filed by one of my alts Terrence Ruddick.
I tried wiping my drive and reinstalling Mavericks/ installing from one of latest downloads:
eve-premium_008261_719324-mac.dmg
as I was concerned my drivers may have become corrupted.
Yet I still have issues... I now have stopped using clonemaker as launcher now allows logging in to many accounts simultaneously.

Hi everyone,
I play via Steam on my Mac, i'm not able to connect since 3 days.
I sent 2 supports tickets, and not sign of life from CCP at all.

There was an update of the launcher today but nothing has changed, my money is just dropping.
I really enjoy play this awesome game, but i cannot play.
I've just get the collector and i hope i won't regret it.

Please CCP, you use to communicate really fast when there's a problem, but in this case i don't now if someone listening to me.

Dear CCP,

even after today's patch opening the starmap is much(!) slower than in Rubicon 1.1 and prior version. After clicking the icon the starmap takes a few seconds to load and it only loads the star system dots. Moving the map with the mouse results in loading the connection lines which do not display until I move the map. This behaviour is the same if docked or in space.Shocked

Moreover, I always have to open the map menu by hand - it does not auto-open when I open the starmap which is quite annoying. Ugh

Just a detail: Since Rubicon 1.1 the launcher always forgets the username. I have to re-type it for each and every login.

It would be nice if you guys could fix this. Rubicon itself is quite a nice expansion. Cool

Regards,
Tass.

I can confirm this finding by Eric Agerwal.

Very good work Eric and thanks for providing the details. I now don't dock in Gallente Industrial stations. I have no problems since doing so. Hopefully CCP can resolve this soon.

If I remember correctly, both the launcher problem and the map menu thing have to do with corrupted cache files, so if you delete those that should fix it. Might help with the starmap being slow as well, I don't know.

Got a problem with the mouse where it just doesnt respond correctly in game: clicks jump around. It's really hard to explain beyond "my mouse isn't behaving how i want it to". It basically you doesnt open things i click on, and when i try to rotate the camera view of my ship it jumps to one point on the screen and doesnt spin the camera at all. Never had any issues before this with the game.

The only steps that lead to this are me opening the game. So far i havent found a work around. Makes the game totally unplayable.

Game is unplayable for me for the past months:
-2 months of unexplained socket errors (no it's not my ISP).
-Now in thepast month freezes every 5 minutes.

Both problems have threads on the forums going back to 2010 and 2011 without any thorough response from CCP support.
I'm glad my corp is being run by competent directors else 3 years of work would have gone down the drain. I do slightly fear this will ruin my game so bad, that this is the end of EVE-O for me. That 5 accounts less for CCP I'm afraid. However the lack of interest in the Mac client is shocking.

Erm. Interestingly, I didn't change anything at all but after today's patch everything works again! Just as if it never was broken at all. Dunno if this is due to the patch or whatever?!? Shocked

Anyways. It just works now. Thank's to whoever did make this happen Big smile

Is there a reason that all the topics in the last year or so are now gone?

I can't update my inability to play on the forums because the topics are just gone.
