How should one fit a tengu for support in PVP? I looked at a few on eve battle clinic but that site is outdated and pre Rubicon.

Have some fun, armor tank it, ecm and neuts.

When you and your opponent finish laughing there should be a funny killmail.

On a serious note though, support pvp in what way?

100MN kite fit is nice but pricey to get it effective, if you fit it for straight buffer tank/brawler with HAMs it's kinda meh compared to other T3s, the subsytem with 6 launchers lacks powergrid, and if you go for the 5 launcher subsystem your dps is kinda miserable. For example, the Nighthawk can get more dps, more tank, 2 utility highs (can even fit a ganglink or double medium neuts) and the Tengu's only advantage is speed, agility and range. Nighthawk is also 100mil cheaper in a full T2 fit.

Basically Tengu isn't really the best dps support ship, it can be done but it will be lackluster compared to other T3s.

Well...

in terms of raw PvP the tengu falls behind the nightmare (ganglink)
in terms of e-war suport a Blackbird would be better
in terms of rep a scimitar or basilisk outperforms without any problem

and sadly it cant combine these roles like the legion can combine Dronefighter + Neut + Tank. Matter of fact, as soon as you try to combine multiple roles in a tengu your fit is destined to be fail of the month.

97% of girls would die if Justin Bieber were about to jump off a cliff. Post this in your sig if you`re part of the 3% yelling,

"DO A BARREL ROLL!"

Best Tengu is a Proteus.

@ OP.

Fit it however makes your corp willing to reimburse you if you lose it. Otherwise, how would you benefit from flying such an expensive ship? You can have four Guardians for the same price, can't you?

"Support" in the case of a Tengu is SORT OF vague.

Support DPS? Rail/HML kite stuff is okayish, not awesome but workable.
Logistics? Highly situational, requires a gang working around it rather than the other way around.
EWAR? Your ECM capabilities are much weaker than that of a Blackbird or Recon, but you can be really tanky at the same time if you have proper backup. Makes for decent primary bait in a fight and can turn the tides of some engagements if RNG goes your way.

Other things I could think of would be a RLML Tengu, it still get the damage bonuses so the burst DPS is crazy on a super tanky platform.

No sig.

unless you're running in a wh with RR or ecm tengus, the tengu is not much of a support ship. It tanks and spanks and runs away (with 100mn ab).

"**CCP is changing policy, and has asked that we discontinue the bonus credit program after November 7th. So until then, enjoy a super-bonus of 1B Blink Credit for each 60-day GTC you buy!"**

Never forget.

After the HML nerf, the tengu is really, really sub par. If you are looking for 'utility' T3 I would suggest the proteus / loki / legion (in that order)

If you are just looking for a 'support tengu' it gets bonus to jamming. And when it comes to jamming, there are many other ships that do that job much, much better. In the current meta, the tengu really doesn't bring anything to the table in a PvP situation
