Resizing client on OSX 10.9 Mavericks causes crash

This is a highly reproducible bug as it happens all the time. Happens on a mid 2011 iMac with the Radeon HD6770M on Mavericks.

Testing is real easy. Launch the client, login past Character Selection try resizing it, or making it fullscreen, anything at all that would change the size of the client and you'll end up with what looks like graphic corruption bugs, then the client goes on to crash.

Link to what the crash looks like

Bug has been reported for this, but is anyone else experiencing it who have Maveircks?

Attempting to play on a rMBP with GT650m, and the game doesn't even open for me. I've tried everything I could come up with and the most I managed to get was audio of the into movie after trying a reinstall.

I was going to submit a bug report, but they would probably just cry "os isn't officially out yet" or "transgaming is fixing it".

I'm not holding my breath, as the game hasn't been playable since day one with the freezing issue, so my accounts are expiring.

Wow, that is rather strange, I would have thought that the GT650M would have had absolutely no problems at all with it. I do think that part of this is actually Apple's fault though. Through the years, they have been notoriously terrible for graphics driver performance and there is almost always graphics card issues with the .0 releases. Maybe we'll see some sort of stability in 10.9.1 - but then again this is Apple so I'm not holding my breath. Took them over 5 years to implement OpenGL core profile, so I can't expect them to get it right first go.

Oddly enough, when the client is running in 10.9.0 for me, it's extremely stable and noticeably more performant than it was before. Haven't experienced the freezing bug on it yet and I've had the client open for hours at a time on it.

Just bought a brand new macbook, using a 750M and 16gb of RAM - was able to reproduce this issue 15-20 times tonight. The game runs beautifully until it freezes or I try to adjust the resolution :\ Incidentally, is there an optimal resolution to run for my retina?

Similar bug on my Mac Pro since last update,
Switching from full screen to windowed mode triggers the freeze.

Had no problems before that update.

My 2cents: I'm running 10.9.1 (maverick) on a fall 2012 rMBP w/ a GT650M + 16gb ram and I've never had this problem (i.e. not with 10.9.0).

I too am having the same problem. Gave up on trying EVE on my mini after weeks of frustration. Bought a new 27" iMac (unboxed tonight). Played fine until I switched from fullscreen to windowed mode. Client crashed. Re-starting causes another crash after logging in at character selection when the game tries to start up.

I'm really tired of trying EVE on a Mac. I'm giving up. Time to find a new game.

We'll investigate this resizing issue.

In the most recent builds of SiSi i've been playing around more with the graphics settings and been playing about with resizing. I should note that it isn't just the sisi client this happens on, but also current TQ build.

This problem seems to happen mostly when you have the resource cache enabled and when you set anti-aliasing to high. My guess is that it's bumping up against a memory limit problem and instead of doing proper checking, just flying right past it and corrupting memory, most likely in the texture cache.

Now.. when you have two sisi clients open, set both to 1920x1080, with the resource cache off and anti-aliasing off, then increase one of the clients to 2560x1440 still in windowed mode (27" iMac screen res) you'll get the same issue on the client that has been resized. Then as soon as you switch back to the other sisi client, it'll happen there also.

If I could really be bothered, I'd check for wine bug reports for something along these lines to see if it's been noticed before there on other applications but I have enough crap to do today. :p I should note though that the condition has been present for me across all versions of Mavericks.

(Also thank you for investigating)

I had a stable client for a few weeks now (the freezing problem seems to have been solved!!). Normally, I run the Eve client in window mode on one of my two monitors. Today, I resized the window from 2560x1600 to 1600X1000 and moved the window to a different "space" (virtual desktop) in a different monitor.

When I moved the Eve window back to the original monitor and space and tried to resize, the window rendered a bunch of garbage and after a few seconds I get a dialog box asking me if I want to debug the problem.

I've not played eve very long (just over a month), but I can say this is the first time I've seen the problem and it is constant. I am currently unable to change the resolution at all. I can make it full screen, but changing the resolution crashes the client.

Just my opinion, as I have bevr had these problems. I stay on top of all my updates.

Open disk utility and run > repair premissions.
Normlu if I have any hangs I start there. Restart computer etc. reset caches on client etc. if you wanna try some more cleaning, OnyX. Works great.

I normally run some sort of main fence/cleaning app at least once a month. I have played EVE for almost a year now., and never had these problems.

Also you might look at running EVE. Under wine> there is a nice forum post about it. Vanilla EVE

I still get this frozen same screen from time to time, under 10.8.x and 10.6.x.

To be clear, the graphical noise happens every time the graphics driver is reloaded through detail or resolution changes. But when it coincides with crashing the client is a bit less common lately.

Do not actively tank my patience.
