Since I have school obligations, I do a lot of passive mining in high sec. However, I will have more time soon and I want to start changing my skills over to skills for a T3-T4 mission ship. I heard that the Drake fit used to be the best, but that has since been nerfed?

What is the best mission ship for T3-T4 and what fittings should it have?

I think you mean "L" -3 and -4 missions, right? ;-)

Raven is popular, active tank with some 2 T1 "rigor" and 1 T1 "flare" rigs to help with damage application. Rattlesnake and Ishtar are some Sentry-drone options. Back in the day (2009'ish, different toon) I used to use a Maelstrom with artillery, though I seemed to struggle to get decent ISK/hr with that setup.

Hope that gives you some ideas. Also, search through this forum for a bunch of comments on the topic, you'll find a wealth of ideas in "Ships and Modules" as well as "Missions and Complexes" sub forums. Good luck!

I would suggest a Hurrican/Drake to start doing level 3 missions with. Once you get a Maelstrom/Raven you can do level 4 missions. Don't forget to get support kills so you don't fly around in a 250 dps t1 fitted battleship.

You can also use a t3 like Loki/Tengu if you want.

Yes, Armor/Arty Hurricane and Shield/Heavy Missile Drake were excellent L3 ships. I fully support Jon's comment about the fitting skills. It's painful to skill those up, but well worth it. And I can't remember who to attribute this comment to, but it's the right way to go: "learn to train to your remap rather than remapping to your training." In other words, remap to Intelligence/Memory and focus on all your Armor, Electronics, Engineering, Navigation, Shield, etc. skills without being distracted by the combat elements. Then remap for Perception/Willpower to do all the Gunnery, Drones, Missiles, Spaceships skills.

It is painful waiting/watching for all that stuff to train, but you will benefit from it similar to investing principles, get train skills when they're cheapest (i.e. max rate/hour). Patience is a virtue!

Well, I hear the Paladin and the marauders in general are very good for L4 missions. The bastion module bonuses to MJD timer means you can have an infinite range tank leaving lots of free spots for damage and tracking computers. So you can have well over 1000dps over 100km range. That you can fit Tachyon beam lasers on the paladin no problem at all is also a bonus. Remember to use the cheap standard ammo and the Paladin is practically without upkeep.

ok first things first. if we are talking 'best' ship, there is a vast difference between lvl3 and lvl4 missions. if you want to stick to lvl3 (for whatever reason), the tengu and ishtar are probably the best choice.

for lvl4 missions, the marauders are currently really strong, with the golem and paladin being slightly ahead of the other two.

that said, you will probably not sit in any of the ships i mentioned for several moths. if you want to just get into lvl4 missions and make decent isk without exploding, drake into scorpion navy issue raven navy issue is probably the way to go for you. both the drake and navy scorp can mount an enormous tank at the cost of applied dps. once you have gotten a feeling for mission running, you can upgrade to a navy raven to improve your kill speed and then maybe train for the golem. if you decide that missiles are not your thing, you can look at the other weapon systems.

I should buy an Ishtar.

there are two ways to run missions, irst choise is which one o these paths you like to take.

1) clear the room ( Kill everything bofore completing your missions (maybe salvage))
2) Blitz, forfill mission objectives and nithing else.

both paths have different ships/ fittings that make them optimal or the job.

1) Mach, Nightmare, Domni, nav, Domni, CNR, SNI, virtualy everry marauder. (depending on taste, style and isk every one of these ships will preform great at lvl 4 missions.

2) HM-Tengu, other ships can do a very good job as well, though missiles (selectable damage, long range, no transversal) are very useful in PVE, Tengu has more speed (and more warp speed usefull especialy when missions are a couple of jumps out) than the Battle Ships, a supurb tank.

my to cents.
