Usually you can get in pretty fast but you can also go to one of the other trade hubs which usually has less traffic.

Just sit and spam the jump button til you get in. Usually wont be more than minute or so.

Yes, this is a regular occurrence. most Saturday and Sunday evenings will have queues of ships waiting at the gates into Jita, especially the gate in Perimeter.

This creates opportunities for the cunning individual - either organise a suicide gank fleet and pop someone that's stuck on an in-gate then steal their stuff, or look through everyone on the in-gate until you find someone with public killrights that are cheap, activate them, pop them and steal their stuff.

Another alternative: set a close orbit around the locked-down stargate, make sure you've got Jita selected as your autopilot destination ... and then turn on the autopilot. Don't go AFK; keep an eye on that account, and when you hear "Autopilot jumping", and the jump animation starts, turn off the autopilot. Once you're through to Jita, continue piloting as normal.

It may not be as quick, but it's a lot less labor-intensive than spamming the jump button for who knows how long.

IMO it is amazing that CCP is able to keep Jita running at all, let alone at full capacity during peak times. When you look at it, during the high traffic hours when the gates get locked, there are as many (if not more) people in that one system as most other mmo's have on an entire shard.
