News Flash: Eve player scams other Eve players for ISK.

No way. I'm really shocked.

I think your about 6 months too late to whip up rage. Tired story is tired.

It doesn't hurt to repeat rigged game is rigged for the benefit of new players every now and then.

Also a good place for players to learn about all the reasons why if they get hooked on things like blink, to not subsequently go do similar things with not-simulated money.

No, not upset by you specifically at all. The Somer issue however reached saturation in GD some time ago. There was no need for a new thread on this topic (CCP really should make that "New Topic" button less visible) when there are a mountain of existing threads that contain the same information.

Quote:
It's about all the people who would otherwise be wise in strategically purchasing lottery tickets in order to have probability on their side.

What? "people who would otherwise be wise in strategically purchasing lottery tickets". Maybe it's the wording, but that is difficult to make sense of and I'm a native English speaker. I suspect that people who read this forum with English as a second language will be totally lost by that sentence.

Tauranon's comment completely covers what i would have said about the first part of that.

Secondly, let me rephrase, even though i'm pretty sure this sentence was constructed correctly.
-It's about all the people who, in any legitimate lottery, would be wise to buy a percentage of the available tickets so that they would have the probability of winning.

Did i make that easier for you?

Sure, but for people with English as a second language, it's probably better and simpler to write:

"This is for players who might buy lots of tickets to give themselves the best chance of winning. Really, they have almost no chance of winning the major draws and are wasting money. My article explains why."

Thank you for assisting me with being more communicable with non-english speaking patrons of EVE. I'm glad we're on the same side now.

Mmmm, cake and bacon. Sounds like my usual saturday nights, except there's usually a bear wandering around and someone's missing a hand.

Surprisingly enough, so have i, but then, i've only played the blinks for the cheapest frigs in order to get promo blinks. I'd just about have to say that the only legit blinks are the super cheap ones, because they probably don't care about those.

Blink prices include a house margin. ie it is possible to "win more than you lost", and still have lost.

I randomly glanced over their current offerings, fleet pest offered at 391 on blink, where best sell order is 343, and even jita is only 373. Firetail, up for 13.7 when sell orders in jita are 10.9 etc.

ie their margins run from 5% to 25% on jita prices, and probably reliably above 10% given they have sufficient buying and delivering volume to justify buying from all hubs.

It's actually a really clever scam, likely the most clever scam in EVE.

And by most scammers logic, the ISK they absorb is rightly due to them for being able to outsmart so many people for so long. My only issue is that it's been going on so long and they take such vast amounts of ISK, that it's actually hurting the game and the player count. Albeit, anyone who wastes all their money on Somer Blink probably shouldn't be playing EVE anyway, it's still bad practice. That's a MASSIVE amount of ISK that could be in the hands of players. I mean, 1,536,071,143,677,254 ISK is an ungodly amount to have robbed capsuleers. Ungodly, compared even to the greatest battles AND scams to have ever taken place in EVE put together.

I really wouldn't be surprised if they've taken the extra step with all their income to use it to generate RL money, but that's just speculation.

I actually didn't even realize those numbers, Tauranon. I never even thought to see how the prices correlated. Much much kudos.

All in all, such a well developed scam, but damn, lol, i wish they had respect for the game and other players.

On the same side? We were never on different sides. I agree that Somer is a scam and never said differently.

I just think you are about 6 months too late, not adding anything new to the information and adding nothing to the level of awareness that already exists in GD.

The thread is a pointless use of the New Topic feature. You should have posted in one of the existing threadnaughts and bought that back to the front page. After all, that would have added a whole lot more to the public service of raising awareness.

At the moment, this is just reposting old material.

Redacted, i don't like it, lol.

Put a mil in to test, still hasn't been transferred. I know it says something about that in the corp's description, but that's a problem in and of itself. Also, who's to say the lottery section of it isn't doing the exact same thing Somer Blink is?

Blink, like all lotteries, is a stealth-tax on people who lack a basic understanding of probability theory, but it is a system which can be gamed if you play the promos properly.

My blink investment: 150m ISK.

My blink returns: 2x Plex, 1x Machariel, 1.249 B liquid ISK.

Drama cyno back up! lol

Your whole discussion is nullified by yourself. What more info is necessary to say than, "Hey, the game is rigged" and point out ways to see it yourself. The point isn't to entertain people, it's just to raise awareness. The fact that there is a post mentioning that Somer Blink is a scam does the exact same thing the older posts do. You just want drop a damn cyno, lol.

I agree with this. The promo blinks are the only safe way to go. It's the people who are spending RL money on PLEX to convert into ISK so they can use it to play the big blinks who are in trouble.

The story is that the incredibly high juice is bait for you to drop all your ISK into their lap thinking you'll win.
