My brief time in the game has been sufficient to realize that the worst time to buy a new "hawked" item is right after it has been introduced. The value naturally falls over time after they are introduced into the game, unless the players under-estimated the value of the ship. That seems unlikely in the case of the Nestor.

You have never heard of opportunity cost have you?

It is hard to envision the applicability of opportunity cost in respect to the Nestor when the alternatives are not only better, but cheaper, and nothing is lost at current prices by choosing another cheaper ship.

I will edit to add: Other than the thrill of being the owner of/flying the newest ship in the game.

Someone has to build them, as soon as the price goes under 2000isk/LP its more worth MY time to sell probes or implants.

1. No sane persons will build Nestors and sell them for 500 mill when the same SOE LP could fetch 1.5 bill or more as probes or virtuals.

2. Buffing the Nestor so it is actually worth as much a a carrier would be insanely OP

Wouldn't it be silly if all ships in the same class are similar in performance? Learn how to use the new battleship and use it to your advantage.

Maybe the problem is the LP cost is just too. It is driving the cost on market, for subpar ship in my most if not all pilots opinions.

Why when I can fly a pair of domi's to my advantage for a 1/3 of the build price.

Tell me how would you use a 1.5bil battleship that performs worse then a domi please.

Why? why are battleships special? explain please.

Who knows. I think its just because they're called battleships :)

Tengu can covert ops cloak, be immune to bubbles, go to ratting site, refit subs, put out more equal dps to the Nestor, but everything else is vastly improved, sig radius, scan res, tank, .... list goes on.

Same with Blops "If Blops could warp cloaked it would be OP!" but the reality is the T3's are so much better in terms of real applied DPS and everything else including tank.

People are lemmings, they don't think for themselves, not objectively anyway.

Yes, because they're special. Which is also the reason CCP cited when saying they would never give any battleship hac-level resistances.

That doesn't mean CCP are right, given the lack of BS's being used in PvP at anything under large fleet level it would actually strongly suggest they are wrong.
People are just terrified at the idea of a BS useful without a massive fleet. Plenty of examples were given in the initial Nestor thread as to why a Cov Ops BS would not be totally OP.

That's cute and all up until the point where someone notices a mobile depot and tengu on dscan, and decides to camp the mobile depot. Then your tengu is stuck without its cloak or nullifier. Then the probes come and you have to log (at which point, why are you doing any of this?) or run for it and probably getting caught in a gatecamp.

I'm sure this will work well in a region of space devoid of activity, but then again, so would anything else in that situation.

No to covops cloak. But let it jump to covert cynos. Then it would be a fantastic combat exploration battleship and replace the sin in its pve role.

Why? It was intended for wormholes.

CODE is just a bunch of pirates; smart, organized pirates. It doesn't help to rage at them because that is exactly what they want. Dust yourself off and get back on your feet, you don't even have to talk to them.

Isn't that the one with the 50% bonus to probe scan strength at zero skill?

Sounds pretty awesome to me.
