1. Are newbies what most of you vets seem to agree on, as in they cry, wine, rage, quit when they get killed Question I would have thought that the majority of new players would come in with more or less the same mindset that I came into this game with. And that is with some exceptions aside, most professions will entail a high probability of dying, and the severity of your death and the number of deaths depends on your prudence and adaptability. I can understand getting killed your first time. But if you are getting killed the same way for the 13th time, crying or wining isn't going to fix your dying problem Roll

2. Are BOTs rampant (you know the ones that work for sites that sell ISK for $) or has CCP dealt with the problem? I ask cause among my growing activities in-game is BOT reporting. Those bot miners are detrimental to real miners especially in the eyes of PvPers who seem to have a tendency to generalize lumping honest miners with BOTs. But if the problem has been more or less dealt with that's one less thing to focus on Big smile

1. It all depends really. Some people never get used to being beaten, some roll with the setbacks, some are even grateful for the brief bit of PvP excitement especially if they havn't had any yet. Some players years old will still whine when you hand it to em. Suffice to say there is enough whiners to make it refreshing when a new player (or any player) is civil and willing to learn from a situation rather than butt-hurt and sulky about it.

2. Reporting bots is always a good way to keep up with it all, but don't waste too much of your game time doing it as you will only occasionally see results for yourself. CCP have a habit of hitting high attention points like botting right before fanfest.

1. Newbies are New players. No matter how they act or behave. The only grey area is where people stop being a newbie.

2. CCP tackles bots as best as they can. If you suspect "someone" is a bot, report them. Though I personally wouldnt waste my gametime hunting bots to report them. I play EVE for fun, not to play space police.

Once your done being a newbie you become a pubbie in this game which is several degrees worse as I understand. After those come the carebears and the nullbears who are just content with calling each other names and claiming one is worse then the other for all eternity. From my view they are all just as bad, it's just that one chooses to pledges his soul to some self-proclaimed internet god who commands them all while the other wants to keep its independence.

In my experience the scum gets worse and grouped with age. You wouldn't be bad off avoiding this EVE crowd all together now that you still have the chance. The cool guys play WoW...

1. I think we have a classic sense of New Player interpretation. There is the 'new bro' that has a good attitude and gets bummed when his plans don't work out but adapts. Then there is the 'newbie, noob, insert derogatory statement here.' These are the folks that either want to feel safe while they play EvE or feel that only their opinion and playstyle is valid.
a. 'new bro' - buys a transport ship and makes some money hauling. Finds what looks like an AWESOME deal and has just enough collateral to haul the contract. Exits station, get's suicide ganked by the person that put the contract up. He's bummed because he realized 'it was too good to be true,' learned from it, and quite possibly made friends with the ganker.
b. 'newb' - does the same thing. Rages at the ganker, the forums, and petitions CCP. All of which just continues to fuel the fire. He missed the piont. The content in EvE is generated by those moments. Player cooperation or antagonism is encouraged. You learn that in a game made of excel spreadsheets... the meaningful contact is the other players.

This is not entirely true, there are places in null where the bears have some semblance of independence and do not bow to any internet gods..

Yes, as long as they pay their monthly rent.

No rent in NPC regions, last time I checked...

True. Though also not the best place to bear in on most occasions (exceptions apply as usual).

You will hear some people who have been playing since day one whine and throw a fit worse than any new player when it comes to losing ships and assets. And as others have said, don't worry about the Bots too much, if you suspect one, report it, but no reason really to go hunting for them. There are much better things to be spending your time doing.

I like to give newbies the benefit of the doubt.

Yes, unfortunately bots are rather rampant, though CCP will occasionally have a mass purge of cheaters that even affects the market. You can report them in game if you suspect you've found one.

Highsec is owned by players now. Systems 0.5-1.0 are New Order Territory. All miners and other residents of Highsec must obey The Code. Mining without a permit is dangerous and harmful to the EVE community. See www.MinerBumping.com
